As an Application Engineer II you serve as the liaison between external customers and internal departments, the incumbent works in conjunction with sales representatives, sales team, project management, manufacturing, product management, and product engineering. Being a key technical advisor and product advocate, this role fundamentally contributes to build the best practice in product applications through continuous learning and expanding product expertise.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nTechnical Excellence:\nProvide technical support to sales representatives, direct account managers, contractors, engineers, end-users and internal departments\nAssist with SPX factory & R&D tours for internal teams and external customers as required\nAdvise and assist field sales personnel and their clients on product technical details, application requirements, etc. to obtain solutions of specific application problems\nDeliver technical training support and presentations to internal teams and external customers \nDetermine accurate information and calculations as associated with each sales order\nDevelop effective strategies based on thorough analysis of project variables, thus maximizing the likelihood of winning jobs\nInternal Sales Support\nCollaborate with sales staff to evaluate project requirements and recommend competitive solutions\nCollaborate with internal engineering departments (Ratings, Components, Controls) as necessary\nAnalyze RFQ drawing sets and project specifications to provide appropriate scope, site-specific needs, and compliance requirements\nSupport proposal development by incorporating wind/seismic considerations, sound requirements, controls requirements, and pricing for other special or custom features\nPrepare accurate, complete submittal documents for timely client delivery\nCoordinate order and project information with project manager to ensure smooth and timely handoff\nAssist with pricing change orders as necessary\nRepresent SPX at Trade Shows\nCustomer Support:\nServe as the liaison between external customers and internal departments\nAssists customers and potential customers with issues involving SPX product offerings and provide recommendations on solutions to fit their needs\nEvaluate needs of the customer and provide technical solutions and selections that best fit the company’s product portfolio\nListen, understand, and convey customer requirements\nProvide product support information/ direction from existing manuals, bulletins and guides\nRespond to quote requests (functional, technical, and pricing elements) in a timely manner\nAssist in pricing special options\nDocumentation and Continuous Improvement\nIdentify opportunities for process improvement and streamlining technical support procedures\nAssist product development in developing new and/or enhanced products by communicating trends, needs and issues in the marketplace\nParticipate in other duties that relate to the overall goals of the department as assigned\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\nMinimum of 2 years of experience \nStrong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office software\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nFundamental knowledge in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics\nFamiliarity with HVAC and refrigeration systems\nAbility to read engineering drawings\nGood understanding of technical and commercial project variables with the ability to proactively initiate action based on that understanding\nStrong technical aptitude\nStrong communication skills, both verbal and written\nKnowledge of cooling towers, fluid coolers, dry coolers and adiabatic coolers is a plus\nFamiliarity with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering, preferred\nTravel & Working Environment\n.
