With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.\nHow you will make an Impact (Job Summary)\nSPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Designer, you will oversee and mentor less experienced designers to ensure the accurate and timely completion of cooling tower orders. The incumbent will create and review CAD drawings and models, ensuring they align with project requirements, engineering specifications, and regulatory codes while facilitating the progression of orders from sales to fabrication or construction. This role collaborates with vendors, manufacturing teams, and field erectors to resolve material and construction issues, develop installation instructions, and support sales with proposals and aftermarket solutions, all while driving cost efficiency and meeting shipping schedules.\nThis role encourages innovation and continuously improves efficiency of technical support, monitors advances of technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nDesign Review and Training\nReview work of other designers, providing mentorship and coaching.\nTrain designers on software tools, product details, and SPX specifications.\nProvide guidance and answer questions for field construction and manufacturing teams.\nDocumentation & Process Management\nOversee drawing creation, bills of material, and engineering change orders.\nEnsure document control procedures are followed for saving and revising drawings.\nVerify product model files and configurators align with specifications and availability.\n Cross-functional Support\nAssist suppliers, manufacturing, and construction teams by clarifying documentation and instructions.\nReview and resolve discrepancies in parts lists and drawings.\nPrimarily support Americas locations, with potential for global assignments.\nWhat we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\n3+ years of experience.\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of HVAC and/or cooling towers.\nAdvanced proficiency with CAD tools relevant to assigned products with the ability to apply tools to complex situations and teach others; certain roles may require strong proficiency in 3D modeling.\nProgramming and/or Visual Basic knowledge helpful.\nStrong proficiency in SAP or other ERP system.\nProficiency in Microsoft products.\nBroad knowledge and application of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments.\nHigh success in applying skills to a full range of company projects; extremely versatile in work assignments.\nAccountability for groups of many types, consistently performing at a high level of productivity and quality.\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s or Associate’s degree in drafting or engineering technology, or equivalent experience. \nTravel & Working Environment\nOnsite office environment, Monday - Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period.\nThe position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. \nLifting 10-30 pounds.\nKeyboarding/typing.\nAbility to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.\nAbility to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment.\nAbility to communicate effectively verbally.\nMay work outside at times and be exposed to excessive noise, heat, or bad weather.\nMay require working outside of normal work hours.\nMay require occasional travel to jobsites.\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
