With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.\nSPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Sr. Project Manager (PM) you will manage all aspects of a project from order intake to project close out, including some support responsibilities during the quoting and award phases. This entails ensuring that all project phases are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, meet the required quality standard, and serving as the customer’s main contact. For each project, key responsibilities include customer relations, time scheduling and cost forecasting, reviewing and reporting progress, managing consortium partners, if any, and major subcontracts, managing change order process and claims management, project cash flow, and resolving all project related issues.\nThe PM is expected to “own” each assigned project and protect its gross margin by closely monitoring material and labor costs and taking action to correct and report variances of these costs. This role is responsible for resolving project problems in a timely manner, and maintaining project quality and adherence to schedule and budget.\nThe PM closes out each project after ensuring the completion of all required work and documents, all submittals required to the customer, and the final payment.\nThe PM communicates very effectively to ensure the satisfaction of both customers and internal resources. Interaction with organization is detailed within Standard Work Process Map (SWPM, “EVACI”).\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nProject Initiation & Planning\nPM shall be engaged in the Proposal Phase\nSet up and lead the SPX cross-functional Project Team. Identify the project targets and address tasks to the Project Team members, monitor the activities\nSet up meetings schedules and communication rules. (For example, this could include working with related groups, such as EH&S, on issues and resolution.)\nProject assignment is based on size and scope\nCommunication & Stakeholder Management\nFirst line of communication with customers and consortium partners\nRegular communication with major sub suppliers, field construction, and SPX internal departments to address issues related to past, current, and future topics\nTravel to customer or internal meetings (offices, job sites, workshops)\nContract & Financial Management\nContract management with interaction between all parties involved\nFinancial responsibility to maintain target margin of project, forecast revenues with full visibility and costs associated with projects, incl. POC and progress, develop payment schedules (cash flow plan)\nReview project contracts, track deliveries, and time and material order processing\nMaterial costing and as-sold margin verification\nProject Execution & Control\nProject time schedule management between engineering, construction, and supply chain resources\nResponsible for maintaining accuracy of Project Status Report and provide regular updates to management\nDocument control and responsibility for the DCL Document Control List\nChange order and claims management\nProject risk management\nInsurance management\nContinuous Improvement & Governance\nIdentify and support continuous Operational Excellence (OpEx) improvement initiatives\nInitiate and drive a successful Lessons Learned process to inform other projects and/or the proposal managers of new projects\nAct as agent of Company per corporate guidelines\nResponsible for managing projects in all countries in which SPX does business\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\nExperience in the power plant or similar industry\nMin. 2-3 years of project or construction management experience \nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nProduct knowledge\nExperience in accounting, engineering, construction management, and/or supply chain \nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project\nExperience with SAP or other ERP \nProject scheduling experience \nSolid base of leadership skills\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in construction management, business or engineering, or equivalent education and experience\nCertification according to the US PMI standard preferred\nTravel & Working Environment\nAbility to travel up to 25 percent of the time\nOccasional lifting up to 50 pounds\nBending/stooping\nKeyboarding/typing\nAbility to read effectively from a computer screen and/or paper copy\nAbility to handle a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment\nAbility to travel to job sites to meet with construction crews and customers on-site\nAbility to communicate effectively verbally\nOffice environment with varying degrees of noise levels\nOutside at times; may be exposed to bad weather, excessive heat, and/or excessive noise\nVisit the construction jobsites for projects assigned.\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
