Life in this role
As part of our, Transport Logistics division, we have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Yard operative.
Salary: £30,223 per annum
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00-18:00
As a Yard Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of the yard and ensuring trailers are organised, positioned, and ready for operational requirements. You will work closely with the wider transport team to maintain an efficient and safe yard environment while adhering to all Health & Safety procedures.
Key Duties of a Yard Operative:
- Organising and managing trailers within the yard to support operational requirements.
- Using a Forklift Truck (FLT) to move loads between trailers safely and efficiently.
- Loading and unloading trailers as required.
- Sorting and processing returned goods in line with company procedures.
- Ensuring trailers are correctly positioned and available for planned collections and deliveries.
- Carrying out routine yard checks and reporting any defects, damage, or safety concerns.
- Completing day-to-day administrative tasks and operational reporting accurately and on time.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised working environment at all times.
- Operating all equipment in line with safe systems of work and company procedures.
- Working collaboratively with transport, warehouse, and operational teams to support business requirements.

- Have good attention to detail and be able to work effectively in a busy outdoor environment.
- Be comfortable carrying out administrative tasks and completing operational reports.
- Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Possess a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Hold an FLT licence (desirable) or be willing to undertake relevant training.
