This role serves as a technical bridge between business operations and enterprise systems, leveraging platforms including Workato, Freshservice, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and other cloud applications to automate complex business processes and system integrations.\nWorking as a member of the Data team, the Automation Engineer partners closely with Information Technology, Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Facilities, Marketing, and Corporate Services to analyze business processes, design scalable automation solutions, and maintain critical operational workflows. The role combines business process engineering, systems integration, workflow automation, solution architecture, and platform administration to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions that create measurable business value.\nThe Automation Engineer reports directly to the Director of Data Architecture and collaborates closely with Data Engineers, Database Administrators, Business Analysts, Automation Engineers, and functional business stakeholders across the organization\nResponsibilities\nEnterprise Automation & Solution Development\nDesign, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.\nBuild scalable, supportable solutions utilizing Workato, Freshservice, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft 365 services.\nDesign automation frameworks that support onboarding, offboarding, employee lifecycle management, service delivery, operational compliance, and business administration functions.\nCreate reusable automation components, workflows, templates, and integration patterns that can be leveraged across multiple business processes.\nDevelop automated approval, routing, notification, and intake processes that support organizational policies and operational requirements.\nProduce technical solution designs, workflow diagrams, dependency maps, and implementation documentation.\nMeasure and report automation effectiveness through metrics including time savings, reduction of manual effort, process cycle time improvements, workflow adoption, and operational efficiency gains.\nCollaborate with stakeholders to support organizational adoption of automation solutions through training, documentation, communication, and change management activities.\nBusiness Systems Integration\nDesign and maintain integrations between enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and operational systems.\nBuild and support Workato recipes, API integrations, web services, and event-driven automation solutions.\nIntegrate business processes across platforms including: Workday\nDeltek Vantagepoint\nFreshservice\nMicrosoft Dynamics 365\nSharePoint Online\nMicrosoft Entra ID\nPower Platform\nSQL Server\nAzure Services\nThird-party SaaS platforms\n\nTroubleshoot integration failures, data synchronization issues, workflow exceptions, and system connectivity problems.\nEstablish standards for monitoring, logging, and supportability of automation solutions.\nFreshservice Engineering & Administration\nDesign and administer Freshservice automation solutions, service catalogs, workflows, custom objects, and operational processes.\nDevelop service request automation, ticket routing logic, approval workflows, task orchestration, and fulfillment processes.\nCreate scalable service delivery solutions supporting employee onboarding, offboarding, asset management, shipping processes, facilities requests, and operational administration.\nCollaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into automated workflows and service management solutions.\nDrive continuous improvement of service delivery through process redesign and automation.\nPlatform Operations & Support\nProvide administration and ongoing support for automation platforms and associated business systems.\nMonitor workflow performance, automation execution, integration health, and system exceptions.\nParticipate in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of production issues.\nSupport environment management, deployment activities, release management, and change control processes.\nManage service accounts, security permissions, connectors, authentication mechanisms, and platform configurations.\nDocumentation, Governance & Continuous Improvement\nCreate and maintain solution runbooks, technical documentation, process documentation, architectural diagrams, and support procedures.\nEstablish and promote automation standards, governance practices, and development best practices.\nParticipate in peer reviews, solution reviews, and architecture discussions.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and recommend opportunities to enhance automation capabilities and operational effectiveness.\nHelp define enterprise standards for workflow development, integration architecture, and automation governance.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum 3 years of experience developing automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform.\nExperience building Power Automate workflows and Power Apps applications.\nExperience with Workato or enterprise integration platforms (iPaaS).\nExperience working with REST APIs and third-party integrations.\nExperience troubleshooting application and workflow issues.\nExperience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Power Platform governance.\nExperience with SharePoint Online administration and development.\nExperience with Freshservice administration
