Controlled, strategic growth has created the need for an additional Business Development Manager to help us open the next set of doors.\nPosition Summary\nThis position works closely with Operations, Preconstruction/Engineering & Estimating, as well as cross-functional teams, to create new ideas and drive business development and marketing efforts - including planning and strategy. You will focus on the successful development of existing accounts and the identification of new market opportunities.\nYou are not selling a commodity. You are selling the ability to execute a hyperscale data center campus, an ISO-classified cleanroom fit-out, a semiconductor tool hookup, or a greenfield hospital campus or expansion without drama. Your job is to find the clients who need that, understand what they actually need, and put the right Cummings team in front of them at the right moment.\nThis position requires experience in construction sales to contractors, developers, and owners. A background in electrical estimating or project management is a plus. Candidates must live in and be familiar with this area to be considered.\nResponsibilities\nBusiness Development & Prospecting\nCreate new relationships with potential buyers of electrical construction services.\nDedication to solicit new leads and generate sales opportunities.\nIdentify new work leads and manage follow-up, recordkeeping and information distribution.\nDocument and maintain all touch-point activities within the CRM system.\nAccount Development & Cross-Selling\nEstablish and maintain effective contact with existing accounts to maximize cross-selling opportunities.\nDetermine client needs and evaluate company resources and capabilities in light of those needs.\nConduct post-sale follow-ups with customers to ensure sales agreements have been accomplished and customers are satisfied with all aspects of the transaction.\nMarket Strategy & Networking\nPrepare, execute and track action plans for specific target markets.\nStrategize and communicate with team members regarding new industry opportunities.\nAttend industry meetings and professional societies as a means of networking - AGC, ABC, IEC, 7x24 Exchange, SMPS, ASHE, and sector-specific groups.\nMarketing, Presentations & Sales Support\nAssist in the development of marketing and advertising material.\nAssist in creating and delivering effective team presentations\nAssist with estimating and/or budgeting activities within the sales process through close of sale.\nWork effectively with others in a team-based environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.\nQualifications\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.\nMinimum 5 years’ experience in one of the following:Business-to-business sales, with direct sales to contractors.\nConstruction-related experience; any direct experience in estimating, project management, or sales and marketing within commercial electrical construction is a plus.\n\nWorking knowledge of the North Texas construction market and the firms active within it.\nA stable and consistent employment history.\nReliable transportation, valid driver’s license, clean driving record.\nWilling to maintain a regular in-office presence, work flexible hours and some weekends, and travel overnight occasionally to cover client events and out-of-area sales opportunities.\nATTRIBUTES & SKILLS\nAbility to generate new business and sales opportunities within construction-related services.\nWell-trained in sales fundamentals; a structured sales training program is a plus.\nPolished presentation skills, with the ability to think and react to situations quickly and confidently.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAble to work independently and as part of a team.\nEnthusiastic, outgoing, competitive, self-motivated and results-oriented.\nGenuinely enjoys people - builds rapport quickly and maintains relationships that outlast any single project.\nWorking knowledge of electrical scope and MEP coordination sufficient to hold a credible conversation with an owner’s engineer or a general contractor’s preconstruction lead.\nCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS\nBase salary commensurate with experience, plus a discretionary annual bonus.
