This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with industrial data generated by world leading carbon reduction technology applied to large mining equipment - all the while collaborating with experienced engineers across software development, cloud infrastructure, edge computing and analytics.\nYou will contribute to the development and improvement of our data platform for industrial hybrid systems and help create data products that deliver insights from real-world vehicle telemetry. Commencing 27 January 2027, this internship provides exposure to modern engineering practices and technologies used to solve complex challenges in the mining and technology sectors.\nIn this role you will make an impact in the following ways:\nDevelop and test software solutions using languages such as Python and C#.\nWork with AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform.\nAssist in building and maintaining data pipelines that process and analyse vehicle telemetry.\nAnalyse and validate telemetry data to identify quality issues and support engineering investigations.\nDevelop internal tools, automation solutions and data visualisations.\nWrite automated tests and contribute to software quality initiatives and code reviews.\nAssist with troubleshooting, monitoring and continuous improvement of edge and cloud platform components.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation and engineering guides.\nPrototype innovative approaches to processing, analysing and presenting telemetry data.\nCollaborate with experienced engineers and participate in agile development and engineering activities.\nAbout You:\nTo qualify for this undergraduate internship, it is essential that you:\nAre currently studying a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.\n\nHave between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete in your undergraduate degree as of January 2027\n\nAre available for the full 13 months and are willing to defer your studies for that duration. \nNote: Applicants that do not meet these qualifying requirements unfortunately will not be considered.\n To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills/or be able to perform:\nExposure to programming languages such as Python, C#, Java or similar.\nAn interest in cloud platforms, data engineering and software development.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nCuriosity and enthusiasm for working with data and technology.\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\nA willingness to learn new tools, technologies and engineering practices.\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.\nThis is a 13-month, full time or part time, paid placement and the successful candidate will be required to defer their studies for the duration of the program.\nHow to apply:\nFor all applications, please submit your resume, cover letter and academic transcript via the link provided.\nIn your cover letter, please specify how many units of study you have remaining on your undergraduate degree and your motivation behind applying both to Cummins and this specific internship.\nNote: We will be unable to assess your application without all of the required documents, so please ensure you attach your resume, cover letter and academic transcripts at the time of application.\nAt Cummins, we are an equal opportunity employer dedicated to diversity in the workplace.
