Cummins is an American multinational manufacturer headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, that designs, builds, distributes and services diesel and natural gas engines, power generation systems, filtration, aftertreatment and electrified powertrain components. Founded in 1919 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it runs plants, technical centres and service networks across North America, the United Kingdom, India, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and other markets. Its hiring spans field service and diesel technicians, manufacturing and controls engineers, aftertreatment engineering placement students, supply chain coordinators, finance, HR and AI and cloud engineers.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Ensure reliable test readiness by building and tearing down test articles accurately, reducing setup errors and minimizing delays in the testing schedule.
  • Protect data integrity by installing instrumentation to engineering standards, ensuring accurate measurements and dependable test results.
  • Strengthen test execution by supporting tests according to established procedures, helping maintain consistency, repeatability, and compliance.
  • Improve efficiency by preparing fixtures, rigs, and equipment correctly the first time, reducing rework and maximizing lab productivity.
  • Increase result credibility by understanding how test equipment functions and how it influences data quality and validity.
  • Enhance technical insight by applying knowledge of the product under test to identify anomalies, contributing to more accurate root cause analysis.
  • Minimize downtime through effective test stand setup, troubleshooting, and proactive equipment maintenance.
  • Support team success by stepping into additional duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility, ownership, and commitment to overall program goals.

To be successful, you will need to consistently demonstrate the following:

  • Lead with safety first. Proactively identify hazards, report risks, and participate in corrective actions to help build an interdependent, injury-free workplace culture.
  • Bring energy and urgency to every task. Take initiative on new challenges, stay action-oriented, and maintain momentum even when timelines are tight or issues arise.
  • Communicate with clarity and purpose. Tailor your communication-whether written documentation, test reports, or verbal updates-so engineers, customers, and teammates clearly understand methods, results, and next steps.
  • Turn complex information into clear decisions. Interpret detailed test plans, equipment specs, calibration data, and sometimes conflicting inputs to make sound, timely decisions that keep testing on track.
  • Execute testing with precision and discipline. Prepare samples, verify calibrations, configure setups, and run tests exactly to approved standards so the resulting data is accurate, traceable, and defensible.
  • Design and configure effective test systems. Select and integrate the right equipment, instrumentation, and software to meet test requirements while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and capability alignment.
  • Protect and improve data quality. Organize documentation clearly, identify flaws in data, apply systematic problem-solving methods, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Drive continuous improvement while valuing diverse perspectives. Use preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, contribute to process improvements, mentor others when needed, and respect different viewpoints to strengthen team performance and outcomes.
