This position offers the opportunity to apply deep technical expertise to nationally significant infrastructure, directly enabling the expansion of clean, firm power across the U.S. If you are motivated to contribute to infrastructure that will perform for generations and to be part of a mission-driven team accelerating the energy transition, this role offers a compelling opportunity.\nThe Opportunity\nCurrent Hydro is seeking a motivated Hydraulics and Hydrology (H&H) Engineer to join our team. This is a remote, full-time position. The H&H Engineer will be responsible for working with the engineering group for hydropower projects. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with a strong background in H&H, project engineering skills, and experience in the renewable energy sector.\nWhat You’ll Do\nWork with a team of engineers to provide engineering inputs integral to new development hydroelectric projects.\nPrepare and review Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and modelling for new and existing hydraulic structures for new hydropower developments to evaluate potential impacts on navigation, scour, erosion, sediment transport, ice jams, hydraulic transients, etc. in accordance with USACE requirements and other industry standards. This includes surface generation for said models.\nProvide inputs to multi-disciplinary project team members and senior stakeholders to drive design decisions and key business decisions.\nSupport the design and configuration of hydraulic structures and water conveyance (e.g., layout of intake/tailrace channels, cofferdams, etc).\nSupport other permitting modeling, such as FEMA Flood Plain certifications.\nSupport development of physical modeling (physical modeling performed by others) of hydraulic structures by reviewing model development, calibration reports, test plans, test results, etc.\nEvaluation of storm water runoff requirements and slope protection requirements.\nPreparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications based on hydraulic modeling\nPreparation and delivery of presentations to internal and external stakeholders\nProvide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers, to ensure integrated project delivery.\nConduct site inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design specifications.\nPrepare and present technical reports and documentation to senior management and stakeholders.\n\nWhat You Bring\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university, and a Professional Engineering (PE) license. Must be eligible for registration in other states as well.\nMinimum of 8 years of experience in H&H engineering.\nProven experience in H&H modeling and project management skills.\nExperience with software such as HEC-RAS, GEOHECRAS, Esri GIS Software, Autodesk Civil3D\nExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nCommitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.\nCompensation & Benefits\nThis role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
