This is a remote, full-time position. The Regulatory Specialist will be responsible for obtaining, managing, and maintaining permits and licenses for new hydropower projects, primarily across Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Illinois, with future expansion into the Midwest and Southeast.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLead coordination with key regulatory agencies, including:Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)\nU.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)\n\nPrepare and manage all phases of the FERC licensing process, including:Preliminary Permits\nNotices of Intent (NOI)\nPre-Application Documents (PAD)\nProposed Study Plans\nTribal consultations\nDraft and Final License Applications\nNEPA documentation and review\nLicense orders and compliance filings\n\nDevelop and submit permit applications to federal, state, and local authorities\nMonitor and ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements across the project lifecycle\nTrack regulatory filings and proactively respond to agency comments and requests\nProvide regulatory strategy and guidance to internal project teams, including:Supporting study scoping\nRecommending and coordinating with specialized subcontractors\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with agencies, stakeholders, and community partners\nStay current on regulatory policy changes that could impact project development\nPrepare clear, concise updates for senior leadership on:Licensing status\nKey risks\nMitigation strategies\n\nWhat You Bring\nBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Law, or related field (Master’s preferred)\nMinimum 2+ years of experience in regulatory compliance and licensing, preferably in hydropower or renewable energy\nWorking knowledge of:Federal Power Act (FPA)\nTitle 18 of the Code of Federal Regulations (18 CFR)\nFERC and USACE regulatory frameworks\n\nExperience supporting or managing permitting for large infrastructure or energy projects\nStrong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills\nAbility to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities\nCommitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship\nCompensation & Benefits\nThis role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.
