The position is responsible for initiating and driving continuous improvement (Kaizen and lean manufacturing) to ensure key safety, quality, service and cost goals are met.\nMajor Duties & Responsibilities:\nSafety\nLead and or support R3 Safety Events.\nSupport creation of Behavioral Based Safety Observation (BBSO) assessment standards.\nCapital Projects\nPerform economic and feasibility studies for new processes, equipment, systems and methods.\nProvide project leadership and guidance on new equipment or processes introduction.\nProcess Improvement\nPrepare plant, department, and work cell layouts to maximize space utilization, material flow and safety.\nPrepare, implement and follow-up on line balances and methods improvements to insure effective cost reductions in labor and material.\nProblem solving\nUtilize qualitative and quantitative methods and analysis to identify, understand and control the critical few factors effecting key problems.\nProvide engineering assistance on the shop floor.\nManufacturing Support\nDefine, write, install and review necessary manufacturing procedures. Provide guidelines for training personnel in their procedures and participate in training.\nLead and or support Kaizen Events.\nCreate visual aids for operators use during production.\nNew Product Introduction\nPerform make/buy analysis for components as appropriate.\nLead Pilot runs on new products.\nPerform first piece inspections on new and modified parts.\nProcess Engineer to Order (ETO) orders for SAP - routers, BOM, material records, etc..\nProvide feedback to design engineers during /as a result of pilot/first article builds and inspections.\nSustaining Product\nOriginate & process engineering changes.\nSupport engineering requests from product engineering.\nCorrect Bills of Materials/Routers/Drawings when necessary.\nFlatten Routers for products when necessary.\nReview alternative product materials and assembly construction.\nTechnical Functions\nDemonstrate proficiency with current generally accepted industrial engineering methods and techniques.\nDevelop jigs and tools in coordination with Tool Room for special operations.\nDevelop inspection and test methods.\nProvide CNC programming support as needed.\nProvide Technical support for advanced manufacturing systems such as robotics, automation, printing and measuring systems.\nCommunication\nLead and participate in effective meetings, working and training sessions to ensure employee engagement.\nQualifications:\n\nBachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.\n\nMinimum of 3 years’ experience.\n\nProficiency in CAD, preferably AutoCAD & Solid Edge.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nExcellent organizational and time management skills.\nPreferred Abilities:\n\nProficiency in SAP\n\nLean Manufacturing\n\nSix Sigma\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office.\n\nLighting products manufacturing and application\nCompensation\nThe position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more.
