This role offers the opportunity to influence long-term facility strategy, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and potentially build and lead a facilities team as operational needs evolve.\nJob Description\nKey Responsibilities\nBuilding Operations & Maintenance\nDirect and oversee all day-to-day facility operations to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.\nManage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for critical building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, lighting, compressed air, and utility systems.\nMonitor system performance, identify operational risks, and proactively implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruption.\nConduct routine building inspections and facility audits to ensure compliance, operational efficiency, and proper asset condition.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, certifications, permits, and compliance reporting.\nDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for facility operations and emergency response activities.\nEnsure facility appearance and functionality meet organizational and client expectations.\nVendor, Contractor & Service Provider Management\nServe as the primary point of contact for all facilities-related vendors, contractors, and service providers.\nSource, evaluate, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts to ensure quality service delivery and cost efficiency.\nDevelop scopes of work, review bids and proposals, manage procurement activities, and oversee project execution.\nMonitor contractor performance against service-level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), safety requirements, and budget expectations.\nCoordinate landlord and property management relationships to ensure all lease obligations and facility requirements are fulfilled.\nFacilities Projects & Capital Improvements\nLead facility improvement projects, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, office reconfigurations, and capital improvement initiatives.\nCoordinate cross-functional project activities to minimize disruption to business operations.\nParticipate in long-range facility planning, space utilization assessments, and workplace optimization initiatives.\nSupport expansion, renovation, and strategic facility projects as business needs evolve.\nHealth, Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance\nMaintain compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, fire codes, building codes, and all applicable local, state, and federal requirements.\nLead Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) efforts across facility operations, laboratories, fabrication areas, and testing environments.\nManage hazardous waste programs, electronic waste disposal, contractor safety compliance, and incident reporting procedures.\nConduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness exercises.\nDevelop and maintain business continuity and emergency response plans, including procedures for power outages, severe weather events, equipment failures, and other critical incidents.\nStakeholder & Client Partnership\nBuild strong relationships with operational leaders, engineering teams, laboratory personnel, office staff, and external stakeholders.\nPartner with technical teams to support equipment installations, utility requirements, workspace modifications, and operational readiness initiatives.\nCollaborate with IT and technology teams regarding infrastructure, server environments, network requirements, and access control systems.\nDeliver a high level of customer service by ensuring facilities requests are addressed promptly and effectively.\nCommunicate operational updates, project status, risks, and budget performance to leadership.\nFinancial Management & Operational Excellence\nDevelop, manage, and maintain annual operating and capital budgets.\nTrack expenditures, forecast future spending, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.\nAnalyze facility performance metrics and recommend improvements to increase reliability, sustainability, and service quality.\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on energy management, space utilization, maintenance effectiveness, and overall operational performance.\nSupport strategic planning efforts related to facility infrastructure and occupancy growth.\nSecurity & Access Control\nAdminister facility access control systems, badging processes, and physical security protocols.\nCoordinate security-related vendor activities and ensure protection of personnel, equipment, and sensitive operational areas.\nSupport investigations related to security incidents and implement corrective actions as needed.\nMaintain compliance with organizational security and access management policies.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.\n5+ years of progressively responsible facilities management experience within commercial, laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, or mixed-use environments.\nDemonstrated experience managing complex building operations, maintenance programs, budgets, vendors, and facility projects.\nStrong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire/life safety, and building automation systems.\nExperience managing third-party service providers, contract negotiations, and vendor performance.\nKnowledge of OSHA standards, workplace safety practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.\nStrong financial acumen with experience managing operating and capital budgets.\nAbility to prioritize multiple initiatives and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.\nExcellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.\nProficiency with CMMS, work order management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and facility reporting tools.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting advanced manufacturing, robotics, R&D, laboratory, life sciences, or technology environments.\nFamiliarity with machine shop operations, compressed air systems, high-voltage equipment, and industrial infrastructure.\nExperience leading capital projects, tenant improvements, equipment installations, or infrastructure modernization initiatives.\nAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, MEP plans, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.\nExperience developing EH&S programs and business continuity plans.\nSupervisory or team leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.\nCertified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), IFMA, BOMA, or equivalent industry certification preferred.\nKnowledge of sustainability initiatives, energy management programs, and building performance optimization strategies.\nCushman & Wakefield also provides eligible employees with an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health, vision, and dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life, and disability insurance programs, and paid and unpaid time away from work.
