Join us.\nThe Role\nDue to rapid growth, we are seeking a Technical Program Manager with a strong technical or scientific background (Natural Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering and/or AI/ML) to join our team in Cambridge or London. You will be a key driver of technical cohesion, bridging the gap between our research and the physical implementation of next-generation materials.\nYour Impact\nIn this role you will be building and executing the program management framework that accelerates cutting-edge scientific research and tool/model development, which is critical for translating scientific objectives into real-world, scalable materials breakthroughs.\nAs a member of our growing team of TPMs, you will work closely with our internal technical teams on coordinating complex scientific campaigns and also manage scoping and delivery of high-stakes customer projects. You will also be involved in establishing more sophisticated, scalable processes for model development lifecycles and improvements to end to end technical delivery.\nWhat You Will Do\nProgram Leadership & Research Integration\nLead internal technical programs across frontier research, AI/ML model development, data workflows, and machine learning infrastructure, acting as the connective tissue between materials scientists, AI researchers and engineers.\n\nTranslate scientific and business objectives into executable plans, aligning commercial, research and engineering teams.\n\nClose the loop between experimental results and the AI research cycle, translating lab findings back into the model development process to continuously improve accuracy and accelerate discovery.\n\nOwn planning and delivery of projects; calculating compute, managing resources & dependencies, mapping out timelines, and managing risks to ensure successful outcomes.\n\nPartner & Customer Collaboration\nLead technical programs with industry partners and research institutions, serving as a primary program contact for our external partners during the execution and delivery of projects.\n\nFacilitate technical discussions between internal teams and external stakeholders.\n\nDrive project scoping and proposal writing in collaboration with the partnerships and technical teams.\n\nManage joint development initiatives and coordinate customer pilot programs from conception through to deployment.\n\nProcess & Operations\nWork closely with the rest of the global TPM team to refine scalable processes.\n\nImplement metrics for tracking technical milestones and program outcomes.\n\nCoordinate compliance and regulatory considerations across programs.\n\nSupport intellectual property (IP) and scientific publication processes.\n\nFoster interdisciplinary team culture and own change management to successfully scale the organisation.\n\nUse data to drive continuous improvements to internal and customer facing processes.\n\nMust Have Skills and Qualifications:\nYou possess a strong background in a Natural Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML, or related field.\n\nProven experience as a Technical Program Manager in a scientific or AI/ML environment, with a clear sense of where the opportunities and challenges in the field lie.\n\nTechnical fluency across model architecture, cloud infrastructure, and the software development lifecycle.\n\nStrong leadership and facilitation capabilities for managing cross-functional teams.\n\nThe ability to navigate high levels of ambiguity and maintain cohesion across multi-disciplinary teams (AI, Chemistry, and Engineering).\n\nExcellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both highly technical researchers and non-technical partners at varying levels of seniority.\n\nStrategic thinking and problem-solving skills with comfort navigating ambiguity and changing priorities.\n\nExperience managing technical external-facing customer projects.\n\nBonus Points (But Not Critical):\nPractical experience or an academic background in Materials Science, Experimental Chemistry, or Physics.\n\nHands-on experience with high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure or scientific data management.\n\nExperience with molecular simulation software, quantum chemistry packages, or cheminformatics tools.\n\nAdditional Considerations\nThis role will be based in our London or Cambridge office, with the expectation of being in the office three days per week.
