Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer

About the job :

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) Developer with strong hands-on expertise in AMPscript, CloudPages, SQL, Journey Builder, and Automation Studio.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting personalized marketing communications, landing pages, data-driven campaigns, and automated customer journeys within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

This role requires strong technical development skills as well as the ability to translate business and marketing requirements into scalable SFMC solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, test, and deploy solutions within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

- Develop personalized and dynamic email content using AMPscript.

- Build and maintain CloudPages, landing pages, microsites, forms, preference centers, and subscription-management pages.

- Develop server-side functionality on CloudPages using AMPscript and Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS) where applicable.

- Create dynamic forms and landing pages that read from and write data to Data Extensions.

- Implement form submission, validation, data capture, confirmation pages, and error-handling logic.

- Develop secure and personalized CloudPages using URL parameters, encrypted query strings, subscriber attributes, and Data Extension lookups.

- Build reusable AMPscript components for personalization, conditional content, data retrieval, data updates, and campaign logic.

- Develop complex SQL queries for audience segmentation, campaign targeting, reporting, and data transformation.

- Design and manage Data Extensions, subscriber data, Contact Builder relationships, and SFMC data architecture.

- Develop and maintain automated processes using Automation Studio, including SQL Query Activities, imports, extracts, file transfers, and scheduled workflows.

- Build and support customer journeys using Journey Builder, including entry events, decision splits, personalization, triggered communications, and journey data.

- Develop responsive HTML email templates and landing pages using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

- Integrate Salesforce Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM and other enterprise platforms using Marketing Cloud Connect, REST APIs, SOAP APIs, SFTP, and other integration mechanisms.

- Troubleshoot AMPscript, CloudPages, automations, journeys, email rendering, and data-related issues.

- Perform unit testing, code reviews, deployment validation, and production support.

- Develop reusable technical components and follow development standards for security, maintainability, performance, and scalability.

- Maintain technical documentation for CloudPages, data models, APIs, automations, journeys, and integrations.

- Work closely with marketing, business, technology, and data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications :

- Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC).

- Strong proficiency in AMPscript, including personalization, conditional logic, lookup functions, Data Extension reads/updates, subscriber/contact attributes, string/date/formatting functions, redirects/URL handling, error handling, and dynamic content.

- Strong hands-on experience developing CloudPages, including landing pages, lead capture/registration forms, preference centers, unsubscribe pages, confirmation pages, and dynamic personalized pages.

- Experience using AMPscript functions such as Lookup, LookupRows, RetrieveSalesforceObjects, UpsertData, InsertData, UpdateData, RequestParameter, Redirect, CloudPagesURL, and related functions.

- Strong SQL skills for segmentation, data transformation, and audience management.

- Hands-on experience with Content Builder, Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, and Data Extensions.

- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and understanding of responsive email and web development.

- Experience integrating SFMC with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs and SFTP-based file integrations.

- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

- Understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud subscriber, contact, and consent-management concepts.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS) within Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

- Experience with CloudPages security, secure data handling, and implementing encrypted/personalized URLs using CloudPagesURL.

- Experience working with Salesforce CRM through Marketing Cloud Connect.

- Familiarity with JSON and API-based integrations.

- Experience building custom preference centers and consent-management solutions.

- Knowledge of email deliverability and subscriber-management best practices.

- Understanding of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA, and related data-privacy requirements.

- Experience with enterprise-scale Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementations.

- Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications are preferred.

Experience :

- 8+ years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud development experience preferred.

- 6+ years of hands-on AMPscript development experience.

- Demonstrated experience designing and developing CloudPages and custom landing-page solutions.

- Experience supporting production marketing campaigns, automated journeys, and enterprise-scale customer communications.
