The Role

We are looking for a Senior Go Engineer to join our team and help build high-quality, scalable backend services and APIs. This role is perfect for someone with hands-on experience in Go who is ready to take ownership of features end to end, contribute to technical decisions and work on impactful projects. If you're passionate about writing clean, performant code and working with modern cloud-native technologies like AWS, Docker and Kubernetes within a strong engineering team, we'd love to hear from you!

What your day will look like:

• Design and develop high-performing backend services and APIs using Go, ensuring reliability, scalability and consistency across distributed systems
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and gRPC services with clear contracts, versioning discipline and robust error handling
• Integrate AWS services such as DynamoDB, Lambda, S3 and Cognito to deliver scalable and secure backend solutions
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making across the backend stack, helping shape patterns that support long-term maintainability
• Build, containerise and deploy services Docker and Kubernetes, working with CI/CD pipelines to keep releases fast, safe and repeatable
• Write and maintain automated tests, including unit, integration and end-to-end tests, to ensure code quality, reliability and confidence in every release
• Monitor and optimise service performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in latency, throughput, concurrency and resource usage
• Take part in code reviews, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and support less experienced engineers in developing their Go skills
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and web and mobile engineers to translate requirements into production-ready features
• Stay current with the Go ecosystem and cloud-native tooling, proactively evaluating new libraries, tools and AWS service updates to continuously improve the development stack

Requirements

Essential

• Strong hands-on experience with Go and a deep understanding of backend engineering best practices, including concurrency, performance or error handling
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services in production
• Experience with AWS services and building cloud-native backend systems
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration platforms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions or similar tooling
• A sold understanding of testing strategies and TDD for backend services
• Good problem-solving skills and a structured, pragmatic approach to system design
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team, including with frontend and mobile engineers consuming your APIs
• Comfortable working with and maintaining services and codebases built by different teams
