This role oversees workforce planning, talent development, delivery execution, engineering quality, and operational performance while partnering closely with Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Security, Operations, and business stakeholders.\nWe're building a world of health around every individual, shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. Experience working in a Product Agile operating model is preferred.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nPeople Leadership\nLead, coach, mentor, and develop software engineering teams\nEstablish performance objectives and conduct performance reviews\nCreate development plans and succession strategies for team members\nFoster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture\nRecruit, onboard, and retain engineering talent\nResource Management\nManage team capacity, staffing, and workforce planning\nAlign engineering resources to business priorities and strategic initiatives \nManage contractor and vendor resources as needed.\nIdentify skill gaps and develop plans to address organizational needs\nEnsure effective utilization of engineering resources across initiatives\nEngineering Delivery\nLead software development activities through all phases of the development lifecycle\nEnsure delivery commitments are met with appropriate quality, security, and operational controls\nMonitor project execution and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and issues\nSupport Agile delivery practices and continuous improvement initiatives\nCollaborate with Product Owners and Delivery teams to prioritize work and maximize business value\nTechnology Leadership\nPartner with Architecture teams to implement enterprise standards and technical direction\nPromote engineering best practices, coding standards, automation, and DevSecOps principles\nDrive continuous improvement in quality, reliability, performance, and operational readiness\nSupport modernization initiatives and technical debt reduction efforts\nChampion secure software development practices\nStakeholder Management\nBuild strong relationships with business and technology partners\nProvide clear communication regarding delivery commitments, risks, and outcomes\nFacilitate cross-functional collaboration and issue resolution.\nSupport planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives\nRequired Qualifications\n7+ years of experience in software engineering, application development, or a related technology discipline\n5+ years of experience leading software initiatives or managing software engineering resources, including responsibility for coaching, performance, staffing, or capacity planning\nExperience leading delivery of enterprise software through the full software development lifecycle\nExperience managing multiple priorities, teams, dependencies, and stakeholders in a complex organization\nExperience with Agile software delivery and modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, DevSecOps, source control, automated testing, and production support\nDemonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and retain engineering talent\nStrong communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business and executive audiences\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working in a Product Agile operating model in which Product and Engineering share accountability for outcomes\nExperience leading multiple geographically distributed engineering teams that include employees, contractors, and vendor resources\nExperience in health care, health insurance, pharmacy, financial services, or another regulated industry\nExperience with cloud technologies, APIs, distributed systems, modern application architectures, and platform modernization\nExperience using engineering and product measures to improve delivery predictability, quality, reliability, and customer outcomes\nExperience with budget planning, vendor management, workforce strategy, or technology portfolio planning\nAgile, Scrum, SAFe, cloud, security, or engineering-management certification\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Highschool diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)\nPay Range\nThe typical pay range for this role is:\n$106,605.00 - $213,210.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
