This is a senior individual contributor role for a leader who is passionate about designing, building, and scaling our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for tackling our most complex data challenges, driving technical strategy, and mentoring a team of talented engineers. Your work will directly impact our ability to make data-driven decisions and deliver value to our customers.\nArchitectural Leadership: Design and build highly scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant data pipelines and platforms. Drive the architectural direction for how we ingest, transform, and store data.\nTechnical Execution: Be a hands-on expert in developing and optimizing our core data pipelines using technologies like SQL, Python, Apache Spark, and cloud-native services.\nMentorship and Coaching: Act as a force multiplier for the team. Mentor and coach other data engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of best practices, code quality, and professional growth.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand complex business requirements and translate them into robust, efficient data solutions.\nOperational Excellence: Ensure the operational health of our data systems. Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system failures.\nInnovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering. Champion and lead the adoption of new tools and approaches that will enhance our platform and our team's capabilities.\nQuality Assurance: Establish and enforce data quality standards and governance practices to ensure the integrity and reliability of our data assets.\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data systems.\nProgramming: Proficiency in Python and strong Proficiency of SQL.\nCloud Platforms: Extensive experience with at least one major cloud provider's data ecosystem . Azure and Databricks experience is required.\nData Warehousing: Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT principles, and modern data lake architectures.\nSystem Design: Proven ability to design and build scalable and resilient data systems from scratch.\nCommunication: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.\nFamiliarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Kinesis.\nFamiliarity with healthcare data and healthcare insurance feeds is a plus\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering\nPay Range\nThe typical pay range for this role is:\n$130,295.00 - $260,590.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
