The consultant will help identify migration candidates, assess existing capabilities, design improvements, and support workload deployment in the customer’s target non-production AWS environment.\nThe consultant will also assess machine image pipelines and the Open OnDemand user portal, facilitate discovery and design for analytics and AI agent integrations, and provide acceptance and cutover support.\nKey Responsibilities\nWorkload Discovery & Requirements\nIdentify and assess on-premises computational workloads suitable for migration to the customer’s target AWS environment.\nDevelop and maintain an inventory of agreed-upon migration candidates, referred to as “In-Scope Workloads.”\nDevelop user personas and facilitate discovery workshops and technical deep-dive sessions.\nDocument operational requirements, data workflows, data requirements, and technical requirements for the In-Scope Workloads.\nAWS Architecture & Workload DeploymentReview the initial baseline architecture for the customer’s target non-production AWS environment.\nAdvise and assist with deployment of the In-Scope Workloads.\nAssess baseline deployments against AWS best practices and document recommendations.\nAssist the customer in implementing approved optimization and remediation recommendations.\nCost Governance & AutomationAssess existing AWS cost governance capabilities, including tagging, cost allocation, anomaly detection, cost tracking, alerts, and reporting.\nReview existing automated notifications and cost management processes.\nRecommend improvements aligned with AWS best practices.\nDesign improved mechanisms for automated cost tracking, notification, management, and reporting.\nDocument cost tracking and reporting configurations.\n Machine Image Pipeline & User PortalReview the design and deployment of the existing automated Amazon Machine Image (AMI) pipeline.\nRecommend improvements to image build, configuration, and deployment processes.\nAssess the configuration and deployment of Open OnDemand, the customer’s open-source HPC web portal.\nRecommend portal improvements and support integration with the AWS HPC environment, including authentication and user access requirements.\nDocument portal integration and configuration.\nAnalytics & AI IntegrationFacilitate discovery sessions to identify analytics and AI agent integration opportunities that support the In-Scope Workloads.\nDocument integration requirements and proposed designs.\nAcceptance, Cutover & Knowledge TransferProvide up to five business days of support to help troubleshoot and resolve issues during customer acceptance and cutover of the In-Scope Workloads.\nPrepare technical documentation and handoff materials.\nConduct a Technical Exchange Workshop to transfer knowledge to the customer’s technical and operational teams.\nRequired QualificationsHPC & Compute\nHands-on experience migrating or operating HPC workloads on AWS using technologies such as AWS ParallelCluster, AWS Batch, and Amazon EC2 HPC instance families, including Hpc6a or Hpc7g.\nExperience with placement groups and Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) for low-latency networking.\nExperience with on-premises HPC environments and workload schedulers such as Slurm, PBS, LSF, or comparable platforms.\nExperience supporting MPI-based parallel workloads.\nExperience with HPC storage and data staging solutions, including Amazon FSx for Lustre, Amazon EFS, and Amazon S3.\nUser Portals & Machine Image AutomationWorking knowledge of Open OnDemand or comparable HPC web portals, including deployment, configuration, integration, and authentication.\nExperience automating AMI build and deployment pipelines using EC2 Image Builder, Packer, or equivalent tools.\nAWS Cost Management & GovernanceExperience designing or assessing AWS tagging strategies and cost allocation practices.\nHands-on familiarity with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost Anomaly Detection.\nExperience implementing cost alerts, reporting, and cost management automation.\nCore AWS & Infrastructure AutomationStrong knowledge of Amazon VPC, AWS IAM, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon CloudWatch.\nExperience with infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or both.\nExperience applying the AWS Well-Architected Framework and conducting architecture design reviews.\nProficiency in Python and Bash for infrastructure and workflow automation.\nConsulting & DeliveryProven customer-facing consulting experience.\nStrong requirements gathering, technical discovery, and workshop facilitation skills.\nAbility to translate user and technical requirements into actionable architecture and implementation recommendations.\nStrong technical writing, documentation, presentation, and knowledge transfer skills.\nAbility to collaborate with customer stakeholders through assessment, deployment, remediation, and handoff.\n Preferred QualificationsExperience designing or integrating analytics, AI/ML, or AI agent capabilities using Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, or agent frameworks.\nDomain experience in research computing, scientific computing, genomics, financial risk modeling, computer-aided engineering (CAE), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or similar HPC-intensive environments.\nRelevant AWS certifications, such as:AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional\nAWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty\nAWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional\n\nExperience working in regulated
