You'll work daily with the Product Owner, Product Analyst, Space Systems Integrator, and Test Engineer from early discovery through flight.\nYou own the onboard software. Design and build flight-grade software around proven algorithms: data paths, drivers, fault-tolerance/fail-safe behaviour, and a long-term update mechanism for an untouchable device.\n\nYour main responsibilities will include\nDesigning and building the module's onboard software for resource-constrained hardware under real-time constraints, incl. porting the proprietary algorithms to the target module and RTOS\n\nDesigning and building the traffic interception and filtering data paths inside and below the OS network stack, and the bus drivers and protocol layers beneath it (CAN, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CCSDS added as the product grows), built to the Integrator's interface control documents\n\nImplementing fault tolerance as product behaviour\n\nBuilding the on-orbit update and configuration mechanism\n\nApplying standards-aligned development practices throughout: requirements traceability, design documentation, configuration management, formal code review, and static analysis\n\nBuilding and maintaining developer-side tooling and working directly with the OS and hardware vendors on BSP issues, driver defects, and performance problems\n\nAs a successful candidate, you must have\n3+ years of production embedded software experience in C, C++, Ada, or Rust on resource-constrained hardware with real-time constraints\n\nPrior experience in a standards- and regulations-driven environment\n\nReal-time operating system experience used in earnest VxWorks, RTEMS, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or an in-house RTOS\n\nA solid grounding in low-level networking device drivers, protocol stacks, and how data moves through them\n\nFault tolerance and resilience design experience in safety-critical systems, watchdog architectures, graceful degradation, safe mode design, and recovery strategies \n\nDisciplined development practices: requirements traceability, configuration management, formal code review; static analysis and on-target unit testing are a plus\n\nHardware fluency - comfort reading schematics and datasheets, using an oscilloscope and logic analyzer, debugging at the hardware-software boundary\n\nComfort working day-to-day in a cross-functional product team alongside non-engineers\n\nYou will stand out by having any of the following:\nDirect experience with spacecraft or satellite software: flight software, onboard data handling, or ground segment integration in a real programme context\n\nFamiliarity with the communication constraints of the space environment - intermittent contact windows, link budgets, data prioritisation under bandwidth limits, or CCSDS protocol knowledge\n\nA bus or network technology you have implemented or substantially modified yourself: CAN, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, Ethernet, or similar\n\nExperience designing software update and configuration systems for deployments that cannot be patched on demand\n\nReal-time performance engineering on RTOS: ensuring deterministic, bounded worst-case execution (DMA, cache management, interrupt handling, memory management)\n\nBackground in cybersecurity or security instrumentation or curiosity about the cybersecurity domain and willingness to grow into it is what matters\n\nTechnical leadership or mentorship experience on embedded teams working in regulated environments\n\nWe are offering\nTo be a part of different exciting Cybersecurity Space Domain Projects\n\nSupporting and motivated team\n\nFlexible working arrangements\n\nPossibility to attend work-related conferences or trainings of your own choice\n\nWide range of company benefits (paid health days, sports allowance, massage in the office, different events etc)\n\nPrivate office space in Tartu or Tallinn\n\nSupporter of National Defence\nMental Health Supportive Employer\nWhy you'll enjoy working at Cybernetica?\nWe value an atmosphere of learning, collaboration and proactive problem solving, paying great attention also to work-life balance.\n\nGlobal impact 🌎\nWork on tech used in Japan, UAE, the Bahamas and more than 30 other countries.\nKeep learning 🎓\nGo to school while working.
