If you are motivated by building critical infrastructure and advancing the circular economy, join us and help accelerate the growth of rare earth recycling.\nPosition Overview:\nReporting to the Maintenance lead, the maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and performing breakdown recovery work for the plant equipment to ensure the smooth operation of equipment in the facility. The role requires experience in industrial machinery and knowledge of electrical systems to troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain equipment used in metal sorting, shredding, processing. \nKey Responsibilities:\nPreproduction activities include:\nAssist in installation of equipment\nComplete preproduction training\nAssist in commissioning activities\nPostproduction activities include:\nInstall, assemble, and maintain machinery such as pumps, agitators, shredders, crushers, milling equipment and other mechanical systems used in industry\nPerform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and prevent major failures.\nTroubleshoot and repair mechanical issues, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic systems.\nProvide troubleshooting support to diagnose and resolve issues related to both mechanical and electrical failures.\nUtilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to assess equipment performance and identify the root cause of malfunctions.\nSafety and Compliance:\nEnsure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding equipment operation and maintenance.\nAssist with maintaining the facility’s compliance with environmental and safety regulations, particularly related to hazardous materials handling and waste management.\nFollow strict safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, to ensure the safety of personnel while working on machinery and electrical systems.\nAbility to wear a full-face respirator and meet clean-shaven requirements.\nEquipment Installation and Upgrades:\nAssist or complete the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems to improve plant efficiency and productivity.\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and inspections.\nWork closely with plant operators, production teams, and other maintenance staff to address operational issues and complete maintenance tasks.\nCommunicate effectively with supervisors and management to report on equipment status, issues, and required parts.\nQualifications:\nMillwright certifications 433a\nEducation: High school diploma or GED required; technical training in electrical or mechanical systems, or relevant certifications preferred.\nExperience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a metal recycling or manufacturing environment.\nAbility to travel to USA for job-related training as required.\nSpecific Skills\nTechnical:\nStrong understanding and experience with mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, etc.).\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics.\nKnowledge of welding, fabrication, and other machining processes\nUnderstanding of basic electrical troubleshooting activities, motor control systems, PLCs, and VFDs.\nSafety Awareness:\nKnowledge of safety standards and procedures for industrial operations.\nProblem-Solving:\nStrong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.\nPhysical Demands:\nAbility to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in confined spaces.\nTeamwork:\nEffective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues across departments.\nWorking Conditions\nThis position may require working in outdoor or indoor environments, with exposure to noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.\nThe job may involve shift work, weekend shifts, or on-call availability depending on operational needs.\nPersonal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.\nPay Range\n$40—$45 CAD\nWhy You Will Love Cyclic Materials \nAt Cyclic Materials, we're dedicated to supporting our workforce on their unique career journey\nWe offer a competitive compensation package including Health and Dental coverage, RRSP (Canada)/ 401K (USA) contributions and a generous paid time off program that lets you recharge\nWe value diversity and are committed to maintaining a workplace where everyone is respected and recognized for their contributions\nThe base compensation offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.\nAs an Equal Opportunity employer, Cyclic Materials is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
