Working closely with the Community Affairs Manager and site leadership, the Community Affairs Specialist helps strengthen community relationships, address local concerns, support community investment activities, and identify emerging issues that may impact CyrusOne's operations or development activities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, elected officials, business organizations, schools, and residents.
- Serve as a visible representative of CyrusOne within assigned communities.
- Act as a local point of contact for community questions, concerns, and stakeholder inquiries.
- Gather community feedback and coordinate responses with the Community Affairs Manager and appropriate internal teams.
- Coordinate community meetings, stakeholder visits, outreach events, and local engagement activities.
- Support local charitable partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, and community investment initiatives.
- Monitor community sentiment and escalate emerging concerns or issues.
- Assist with site tours, presentations, and community-facing events.
- Maintain records of stakeholder interactions and provide regular updates to the Community Affairs Manager.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in community relations, communications, public affairs, stakeholder engagement, customer relations, nonprofit organizations, local government, or a related field.
- Experience building and maintaining professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating meetings, events, or outreach activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and build credibility within the community.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify and appropriately escalate community concerns and emerging issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to travel up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with local governments, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, school districts, or community groups.
- Familiarity with construction, infrastructure, energy, industrial, real estate development, or data center environments.
- Knowledge of the local market and stakeholder landscape within the assigned community.
