Based at our Corowa site (NSW), reporting to the Manager - Progeny Systems, this is a senior leadership position within the maintenance team. The position provides strong engineering solutions and systems of work to maintain farming facilities in safe working conditions and drive continuous improvement through facility upgrades.\nFarming facilities are varied and include, but are not limited to, pig housing, feed systems/silos, effluent systems (including some biogas systems), gas and electrical equipment (including critical generators, PLCs, feed control systems and automation).\nResponsibilites include but are not limited to:\nLead maintenance and engineering strategy to ensure farming facilities are safe, compliant, and support animal welfare outcomes.\nDevelop and implement preventative maintenance programs across all sites, with systems to track compliance.\nEnsure regulatory compliance for electrical, gas, and safety requirements.\nOversee maintenance systems of work, focusing on preventing critical equipment failures (e.g. generators, water pumps, automation systems).\nProvide technical leadership and support to Site Managers, Supervisors, trades, and production teams.\nManage maintenance budgets (R&M and capital), including planning, cost control, and long-term forecasting.\nLead commissioning and onboarding of new facilities, ensuring effective maintenance integration from day one.\nDrive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of failures and implementing engineering solutions.\nManage capital projects end-to-end, including scoping, design, approvals, delivery, and performance review.\nOversee contractor management, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and biosecurity compliance.\nMonitor and develop maintenance team capability, including coaching and performance management.\n\nEnsure effective communication, reporting, and alignment with production, while responding to urgent maintenance issues as required.\n\nAbout You:\nThe ideal candidate will have:\nMechanical/Structural Engineering Degree. Electrical Engineer with relevant experience would also be considered.\nWorking knowledge of controlled ventilation facilities for intensive animal production an advantage.\nA thorough understanding of maintenance work management practices, qualifications in maintenance management will be an advantage.\nClear understanding and competency in overseeing high risk activities (working at heights, confined space, electrical and gas regulations)\nProven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff.\nThe ability to plan, organise and control project and maintenance activities to optimise the use of available resources.\nIntermediate computer skills.\nHigh level communication skills, initiative and strong attention to detail.\nSound knowledge of OH&S regulations in NSW and VIC.\nPreparedness to work flexible hours.\nValid drivers license.\nWhite Card.\nOur recruitment process includes a medical (which includes a drug screen).\nWhy join JBS?\nWe are committed to creating a workplace where people feel supported, valued, and connected.
