The Buyer is a strong team player, results oriented, has a dedication to excellence and a sense of urgency to achieve business objectives.\nPosition Responsibilities may include;\nTactical Strategic Commodity responsibilities multiple production locations\nSupplier Development\nDirecting staff in certain purchasing activities\nDelivery/Inventory management (Inventory goals, Long lead-time supplier programs, obsolescence).\nCost (PO's, AP issues, Supplier reduction, savings initiatives).\nGeneral supplier maintenance (system and file data accuracy maintained).\nEngineering/Program changes.\nLimited Travel\nUse computers to organize and locate inventory and operate spreadsheet and word processing software.\nNegotiate prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for merchandise.\nManage the commodities for which they are assigned\nConfer with sales and purchasing personnel to obtain information about customer needs and preferences.\nExamine, select, order, and purchase at the most favorable price merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other factors.\nMonitor and analyze sales records, trends, or economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and determine what the company will sell and how much inventory is needed.\nAuthorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise.\nNature & Scope:\nApplies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience\nManages projects and processes while working independently and with limited supervision\nCoaches and reviews the work of lower-level professionals\nKnowledge & Skills:\nExperience in both foreign and domestic sourcing with logical and strong negotiating skills \nGood working knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor/SAP Preferred, but not required)\nVendor partnering, including supplier certification and development processes and lead -time reduction\nFamiliarity with EDI/ERP implementation is a plus\nEffective communication and negotiation skills taking into account the Global nature of today's market and supply base\nAbility to build and maintain positive relationships with internal customers, vendors, and employees\nEffective organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks successfully\nMust be able to interact with personnel in sales, retail and operations on a day to day basis.\nInteraction with all aspects of a business (Finance, Materials, Logistics, Operations, Sales & Marketing)\nWell-honed analytical and deductive reasoning skills and strong quantitative and mathematical abilities\nManaging of multiple suppliers with over 10000 SKU’s\nInventory and/or quality management training /certification helpful but not required (i.e. APICS, Six Sigma, CSCP)\nExperience:\n5 plus years of experience in a high volume environment - High volume/low cost purchasing \nExperience in a manufacturing environment & with MRP \nEducation/Certification:\nBachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related field \nPeople Management: No\nPhysical Requirements / Work Environment:\nMust be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
