strategy that delivers timely, engaging, and impactful journalism.\nWorking closely with the Radar & Echo Editor, the Senior Digital Journalist will coordinate breaking news coverage, manage homepage priorities, optimize content for digital audiences, and ensure consistent editorial standards across our websites and social media platforms.\nThis is a leadership role for an experienced digital journalist who combines excellent editorial judgment with a deep understanding of audience engagement, SEO, analytics, and newsroom workflows.\n Key Responsibilities\nEditorial Leadership\nSupport the planning and execution of the Group’s digital editorial strategy.\nCoordinate day-to-day digital news operations across the newsroom.\nCommission, edit and publish breaking news, live coverage and enterprise stories.\nEnsure accuracy, fairness, balance and compliance with editorial standards.\nMake timely editorial decisions in a fast-paced news environment.\nWebsite Publishing\nSupervise publishing across the Group’s websites.\nManage homepage presentation and ensure stories are prominently displayed according to editorial priorities.\nEnsure content is published quickly, accurately, and optimized for digital audiences.\nMaintain high editorial standards across all digital platforms.\nSocial Media Management\nOversee editorial publishing across all official social media accounts.\nEnsure breaking news is distributed effectively across platforms.\nDevelop publishing plans that maximize audience reach and engagement.\nWork with journalists to create platform-specific content for Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and YouTube.\nAudience Growth\nUse audience insights and analytics to guide editorial decisions.\nApply SEO best practices to improve discoverability.\nMonitor content performance and recommend strategies to increase traffic, engagement, and loyalty.\nIdentify emerging audience trends and opportunities for growth.\nNewsroom Coordination\nCoordinate with editors and journalists across print, television, radio and digital teams.\nSupervise and mentor digital journalists and producers.\nHelp ensure efficient newsroom workflows and adherence to publishing deadlines.\nContribute to editorial planning meetings and breaking news coverage.\nInnovation\nPromote innovative digital storytelling formats.\nSupport the use of AI-enabled newsroom tools and emerging technologies.\nExplore new content formats that enhance audience engagement.\nQualifications and Experience\nDegree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, or a related discipline.\nMinimum of 7 years’ experience in digital journalism, online news editing or newsroom leadership.\nProven experience managing online publishing in a fast-paced newsroom.\nStrong understanding of digital-first journalism and audience-focused storytelling.\nDemonstrable experience supervising editorial workflows or leading newsroom teams.\nSkills and Competencies\nExcellent news judgement.\nExceptional editing and headline writing skills.\nStrong understanding of SEO and audience development.\nExperience with content management systems (CMS).\nKnowledge of Google Analytics, Chartbeat or similar audience analytics tools.\nStrong understanding of social media publishing and audience engagement.\nExcellent planning, organisational and leadership skills.\nAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\nHigh standards of accuracy, ethics and editorial integrity.\nDesirable\nExperience working in a converged newsroom.\nKnowledge of multimedia storytelling.\nExperience with live blogging and real-time news coverage.\nFamiliarity with AI tools for editorial productivity.\nExperience developing digital audience growth
