This position focuses on helping author, edit, format, and publish both new and existing documents within the manufacturing process.\nWhat will the work look like for me?\nWe are looking for someone who enjoys learning complex systems, asking questions, and transforming technical information into clear, user-friendly instructions. Successful candidates are curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to improve customer experience through effective documentation.\nThis position is designed to help students develop professional technical communication skills and gain practical experience working alongside engineers, product managers, and technical experts.\nTechnical Writing Students will:\nAsk thoughtful questions to understand products and processes.\nSeek and incorporate feedback from reviewers and stakeholders.\nCommunicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and supervisors.\nContinuously learn about Daktronics products and technologies.\nManage multiple documentation projects and meet established deadlines.\nHelp identify opportunities to improve documentation quality and consistency.\nWhen will I work?\nApplicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.\nWhere is this position located?\nThis position allows the flexibility to work remotely from a home office within the North Central Region (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa) of the U.S. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.\nWhat are the pay and perks?\nThe typical hiring range for this position is $16.00 to $19.00 per hour based on the location of the North Central Region (MN, WI, IA) of the U.S. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.\nStudents with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed. This information is intended to be a general overview and may be modified by Daktronics at any time.\nQualifications\nTo be considered for the Technical Writing Student position, we require the following:\nAcademic Requirements:\nThe preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits.\nApplicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in English for Information Systems, Technical Communications, English, or Mass Communications.\nThe preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school.\nOnly strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA.\nUnofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.\nOther Requirements:\n Submit three writing samples.
