Troubleshoots and resolves identified and reported problems and works with vendors to resolve problems.\n3. Serves as technical lead on projects; interacts with project teams, vendors, and other agencies to gather requirements; provide technical guidance for solutions, coordinate equipment deployment and participate in system installation configuration and testing. \n4. Maintains and operates a Data Center; implements and manages cabinet, cabling, and power configurations; implements, maintains and operates data protection and system disaster recovery solution. \n5. Assists in planning and preparing for future technology solutions; stays up to date with emerging technologies and trends; researches, evaluates and tests emerging technologies and makes recommendations.\n6. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Experience and Training:\nEducation and experience equivalent to an Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, or in a job-related field of study. Four (4) years of experience in Systems Engineering which involved the maintenance of compute and storage systems.\nSpecial Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nKnowledge of Data Center operations, software-defined Data Center theory; software-defined storage theory; disaster recovery and data protection operations; information security as it pertains to compute and storage environments; “cloud” technologies, storage area networks and fiber channel/ISCSI; Dallas County Department of Information Technology policies and procedures; project management and research techniques; the concepts, practices and procedures of other information technology fields and their interaction with Data Center functions. \nAbility to perform market research and product evaluation testing; troubleshoot and resolve problems in a compute and storage environment; establish and maintain effective working relationships; understand written and verbal instructions; work independently; and communicate clearly, orally and in writing with varying technological understanding.\nThe position requires the knowledge of the following:\n Windows/Linus Identity and Access Management Services\n Windows/Linux Operating System Services\n Email Services\n Compute or Storage Services\n Cloud Services\n Data Protection/Disaster Recovery Services\n Security Services\nMust possess a valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article Il, Subdivision Il of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.\n“Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems, NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position and may be denied placement in such positions and/or access to such systems. Incumbents must also maintain the ability to pass the records check while in the position or until such time that the Commissioners Court and the County Civil Service Commission deem this position no longer has this requirement.”\nPhysical/Environmental Requirements:\nOn call 24/7 technical support may be required.
