To support the growing implementation of IMO Tier III solutions, Damen Song Cam is looking for an experienced SCR Commissioning Engineer to join our Commissioning & Sea Trials Department. The role will contribute directly to the successful commissioning, testing, and delivery of vessels equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems.\nThe Role\nAs an SCR Commissioning Engineer, you are responsible for the preparation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, optimization, and acceptance of SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems installed onboard Damen vessels.\nYou will work closely with Project Teams, Commissioning Engineers, OEM suppliers, Classification Societies, and Customers to ensure SCR systems comply with IMO Tier III emissions requirements and operate safely, efficiently, and reliably throughout vessel trials and delivery.\nThe position is part of the Commissioning & Sea Trials Department and involves participation in harbor trials, sea trials, vessel acceptance tests, and delivery activities. \n\nKey Responsibilities\nCommissioning & Testing\nAs an SCR Commissioning Engineer, you will:\nPerform pre-commissioning inspections of SCR systems, including piping, instrumentation, electrical interfaces, sensors, actuators, and auxiliary equipment.\nExecute commissioning activities in accordance with approved commissioning procedures and OEM requirements.\nCommission and validate: SCR reactor systems Urea dosing systems Air supply systems Urea transfer and storage systems NOx monitoring and control systems HMI and automation interfaces\nVerify system functionality, alarms, interlocks, and safety protections.\nSupport dock trials, yard trials, harbor acceptance tests (HAT), and sea acceptance tests (SAT). \nTroubleshooting & Optimization\nDiagnose system faults and technical issues during commissioning and sea-trial phases.\nAnalyze NOx reduction performance and optimize system settings when required.\nCoordinate corrective actions with suppliers, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.\nSupport root-cause analysis and technical investigations.\nVerify system performance against contractual and regulatory requirements. \nDocumentation & Compliance\nPrepare commissioning reports, checklists, punch lists, and test documentation.\nMaintain commissioning records and ensure complete technical documentation for handover.\nVerify compliance with: IMO Tier III requirements Classification Society regulations Vendor specifications Damen commissioning procedures\nSupport regulatory certification activities and customer acceptance processes. \nCollaboration & Support\nCoordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and Software Commissioning Engineers.\nProvide technical guidance related to SCR systems during vessel construction and commissioning.\nSupport customer training and operational handover activities.\nLiaise with OEM specialists and Damen Aftertreatment experts when required.\nSupport future SCR system improvements and standardization initiatives across Damen projects. \nSkills & Experience\nTo be successful in this role, you bring:\nEducation\nBachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.\nExperience\nMinimum 3 years of experience in marine engineering, commissioning, propulsion systems, aftertreatment systems, or industrial process systems.\nExperience in vessel commissioning, marine engines, exhaust systems, or emission-control technologies is preferred.\nExperience working within shipbuilding, marine, offshore, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.\nTechnical Knowledge\nKnowledge of: Marine diesel engines Exhaust gas systems SCR technology Urea dosing systems PLC/HMI systems Instrumentation and control systems\nUnderstanding of: IMO Tier III regulations NOx emission control requirements Marine commissioning practices Classification Society requirements\nAbility to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and commissioning procedures. \nCompetencies\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nHands-on approach and practical problem-solving mindset.\nStrong communication and coordination skills.\nAbility to work independently and under pressure during project-critical phases.\nWillingness to travel and participate in vessel sea trials and delivery voyages.\nGood command of English, both written and spoken.\nWhat We
