Used by 18,500+ customers worldwide, Decani helps organisations in highly regulated industries manage critical safety, quality, compliance, and operational workflows.\nWorking on one of Ideagen's strategic growth products, you'll lead the delivery of complex software initiatives, solve challenging engineering problems, and help define the technical standards that underpin a scalable, secure, and modern platform. You'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and driving engineering excellence across the team.\nThis is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on a product that helps organisations operate safely, remain compliant, and continuously improve in some of the world's most highly regulated industries.\nResponsibilities\nLead the design and delivery of complex software features, enhancements and technical initiatives that support product growth and customer outcomes. \nProvide technical leadership within the squad, helping engineers make sound design, architecture and implementation decisions. \nEstablish and maintain high standards of engineering quality through code reviews, testing strategies and software design best practices. \nMentor engineers across the team, helping improve technical capability, delivery effectiveness and engineering confidence. \nReview technical specifications and identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability and long-term maintainability. \nDrive adoption of AI-assisted development approaches and share best practices that improve engineering productivity. \nCollaborate closely with Product and Engineering stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives. \nContribute to broader technical initiatives that improve platform quality, engineering effectiveness and customer outcomes. \nSkills and Experience\nStrong commercial software engineering experience delivering complex products, services or enterprise applications. \nDeep understanding of software design, architecture and engineering best practices. \nExperience owning technically challenging initiatives from concept through to production delivery. \nProven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical standards within development teams. \nStrong appreciation for software testing, maintainability, performance and engineering quality. \nExperience working closely with Product teams to balance technical decisions with commercial priorities. \nExperience in AI-assisted development practices and modern software delivery methodologies. \nExcellent communication and collaboration skills with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. \nPreferred experience - strong backend experience (Java preferred), front end (Vue.js), with cloud technologies (AWS) - alternatives considered \nAs a business, we place great value on collaboration, knowledge sharing and building strong relationships across our teams. Therefore, for candidates living within a 35-mile radius of Nottingham, this role will follow a hybrid working pattern, with three days per week based in our Ruddington office.
