Together, we bring MORE change to the world.\nLearn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.\nThe EHS Engineer partners with site leaders and associates to maintain a safe, compliant workplace and strengthen environmental, health, and safety performance at Cepheid’s Sunnyvale site. This role supports day-to-day EHS programs, risk assessments, training, incident prevention, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement using Danaher Business System (DBS) tools. This role offers opportunities to grow technical expertise and pursue Danaher internal certified practitioner and/or professional EHS certifications.\nThis position reports to the Manager, Environmental Health & Safety and is part of the Environmental, Health and Safety team located in Sunnyvale, CA and will be an on-site role.\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to:\n· Partner with site leaders and associates to improve safety culture and awareness, conduct employee safety and environmental training, and coordinate emergency response training and drills.\n· Conduct risk assessments for processes, equipment, and chemicals; develop corrective action plans; support incident investigations and root cause analysis; and implement injury and exposure prevention strategies.\n· Support and improve site EHS programs, including laboratory safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials and waste, stormwater, air emissions, contractor safety, electrical safety, and other assigned programs.\n· Manage EHS projects, collaborate with EHS committees and emergency response teams, and support sustainability initiatives such as energy and waste reduction.\n· Apply DBS tools, including daily management, problem solving, standard work, kaizen, visual management, and hazard control, to drive measurable improvements and sustain results.\nThe essential requirements of the job include:\n· Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience OR Master’s degree in field with 0+ years of experience\n· Working knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements\n· Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, assess risk, and develop practical corrective actions\n· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization\n· Proficiency in Excel and data analysis, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint\nTravel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:\nAbility to travel up to 15%, including domestic and international travel, with overnight stays as required\nAbility to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 35 lb.\nAbility to stand for extended periods and perform work involving repetitive arm and wrist motions\nIt would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:\nEnvironmental, Health and Safety program implementation in a laboratory, R&D, or regulated medical device environment\nEnvironmental compliance programs including hazardous materials, stormwater, and sustainability initiatives\nCal/OSHA compliance, industrial hygiene, incident investigations, regulatory audits, and EHS management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001\nCepheid, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives. This is the amount that we in good faith believe is the possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
