As an Expert Backend Engineer, you will be trusted and empowered to design and build AI-enabled observability solutions, improving transparency, reliability, and decision-making across platforms.\nIn close collaboration with engineers and product owners across Service Reliability & Observability (SRO) and Infrastructure Reliability Engineering (IRE), you will help shape engineering practices, empower teams through automation and self-service, and contribute to bringing Agentic AI into observability and operational workflows.\nYou will:\nCo-own, maintain, and evolve infrastructure automation and observability platforms together with esteemed colleagues, acting as an integral part of the team\nEnable self-service capabilities for Infrastructure Reliability Engineering and the wider organisation through robust backend platforms\nDefine department-wide software engineering architectures, technical approaches, standards, and practices as part of engineering guilds\nDesign and implement backend services following OOP principles, promoting code re-usability, readability, and standardisation\nEnsure code is clean, well-documented, and maintainable, minimising the need for reverse-engineering over time\nChampion an automation-first engineering mindset across platforms and teams\nDrive the technical AI agenda for observability, including architectural design and hands-on development of AI agents that leverage telemetry data\nAct as a role model and go-to technical authority for backend engineering and architecture for Senior Software Engineers and other team members\nAbout you:\n7+ years of experience in backend development, including making design decisions\n\nIn-depth experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including designing and operating scalable production-grade backend platforms\n\nStrong understanding of REST API standards and best practices, with experience building API-first backend services\n\nExperience with Agile ways of working, including Git flow, code review culture, multiple development environments, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing\n\nFamiliarity with SOLID principles, Clean Code, and modern software architectural patterns such as microservices and event-driven architectures\n\nSolid communication skills, upper-intermediate English proficiency, and a strong sense of ownership with the ability to challenge existing norms constructively\n\nSelf-driven mindset with a strong focus on continuous learning and a willingness to share knowledge and mentor others within the team\n\nDemonstrable experience in automating infrastructure and improving programmability at enterprise scale\n\nHands-on experience designing and building AI agents or AI-enabled backend components, with practical exposure to generative AI or machine-learning-driven systems; knowledge of Go and Python is considered beneficial\n\n\"Together, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees.\"\nWe offer:\nMonthly salary range from 4960 EUR to 7440 EUR gross (based on your competencies relevant for the job).\nAdditionally, each Danske Bank employee receives employee benefits package which includes:\nGrowth opportunities: professional & supportive team, e-learnings, numerous development programs; (incl. professional certificates); 100+ professions for internal mobility opportunities.\nHealth & Well-being: a diverse, inclusive, work & life balance work environment; additional health insurance; mental well-being practices; partial psychologist counselling compensation; silence and sleep zones at the office; game rooms.\nHybrid working conditions: Work from home up to two days a week; home office budget (after the probation period); modern Danske Campus workplace developed with anthropologist for the best employee experience.\nAdditional days of leave: for rest, health, volunteering, exams in higher education institutions, and other important activities.
