You'll help to transform the Medidata Platform for customers, delivering mission-critical software that impacts internal and external teams.\nEmploying AI-first engineering practices, you'll build tools and products that serve as foundational components for engineering and customer-facing services, improving the quality and scalability of our systems. While our projects span various core services within the Platform, our mission remains constant - increase Medidata’s velocity of innovation by raising quality across all teams while maintaining our transparent and trusting team culture.\nResponsibilities\nWrite, debug, and deploy frontend and backend code using a variety of programming languages and frameworks, including Ruby and Ruby on Rails.\nEmbrace AI-first engineering practices, creatively developing agentic workflows and using modern AI tools to solve complex engineering challenges.\nCreate maintainable code through refactoring, continuous integration, test automation, and code review practices, with a strong focus on modern observability and leveraging AI to synthesize telemetry into actionable alerts.\nDrive architecture discussions and design decisions, with a focus on simplicity and maintainability.\nBring a fresh perspective to current systems and architectures, identifying opportunities for modernization and optimization\nParticipate in Agile working practices such as daily stand-up meetings, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.\nAdvocate for transparency and knowledge sharing across the organization through regular blogs, reveals, and pull requests.\nDelight our users by delivering consistent improvement from user feedback.\nCreate clear, thorough documentation that sets up other teams for self-guided success.\nFollow Medidata’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all software meets regulatory and company requirements.\nQualifications\nProficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails as a versatile all-rounder.\nVersatility in tackling multiple aspects of microservices development and architecture.\nStrong problem-solving ability for complex technical challenges.\nSelf-driven and self-motivated with a goal-oriented approach.\nConfidently share perspectives while demonstrating flexibility and openness to alternative viewpoints.\nContribute to a positive working environment.\nEducation & Experience\n5+ years experience with Ruby.\n5+ years experience developing and maintaining production applications.\nB.S. in computer science or similar field or equivalent experience.\nWorking knowledge of HTML/CSS and JavaScript.\nFamiliarity with Micro Front-End (MFE) architecture, a plus.\nExperience using AWS cloud infrastructure and technologies, a plus.\nExperience working in a regulated environment or with clinical research processes, a plus.\nFamiliarity with event-driven architectures and platforms like Kafka, a plus\nBase pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
