This role combines agentic AI, software development, DevOps, and mission-focused engineering to deliver innovative solutions for government customers.\n\nCandidates should have strong problem-solving skills, experience working with modern AI technologies, and the ability to translate complex mission requirements into practical technical solutions.\n\nAs a member of the Data Machines engineering team, responsibilities include:\nDesigning, developing, testing, and refining agentic AI applications and workflows using a proprietary agentic platform.\nDeveloping applications that leverage frontier AI models to address mission-specific requirements.\nBuilding multi-step agentic workflows that integrate AI models, external tools, APIs, data sources, and human interaction.\nUsing Python and shell scripting for application development, automation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.\nDeveloping and maintaining applications within Linux-based environments.\nSupporting CI/CD automation and development workflows using GitHub, GitLab, or comparable tools.\nCollaborating directly with U.S. Government sponsors and mission stakeholders to gather requirements, demonstrate capabilities, and refine technical solutions.\nEvaluating AI model and agent performance, identifying failure modes, and improving application reliability.\nDocumenting system architectures, application workflows, deployment processes, and technical decisions.\nResearching and evaluating emerging AI models, agentic technologies, and development tools.\nCollaborating with a remote, distributed engineering team across multiple technical disciplines.\nTraveling occasionally to meet with government customers and stakeholders.\n\nJoin us as we work to solve some of the industry's biggest challenges. directly with U.S. Government sponsors, customers, or mission stakeholders.\nDemonstrated experience incorporating agentic AI technologies into new or existing applications.\nProficiency working in Linux-based environments.\nWorking knowledge of Python programming.\nExperience with shell scripting and command-line tools.\nFamiliarity with Git-based collaborative software development workflows.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies and platforms quickly.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a remote, distributed engineering team.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with frontend or full-stack application development.\nLinux+, Security+, or comparable technical or cybersecurity certifications.\nBackground in data science, machine learning, statistics, or applied artificial intelligence.\nExperience with containerization and application deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub or GitLab.\nExperience deploying and managing workloads in AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.\nExperience developing applications for restricted, disconnected, or air-gapped computing environments.\nExperience integrating AI applications with enterprise data sources, APIs, retrieval systems, and external tools.\nFamiliarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases, structured outputs, function calling, and agent orchestration.\nExperience developing automated testing and evaluation frameworks for large language models (LLMs) and agentic applications.\nExperience working in Impact Level (IL) 2-5 environments.\nEducation:\nRelevant technical education or equivalent hands-on experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline
