You’ll write and maintain Java code and SQL, and you’ll also work with clients to understand their business, define requirements and design solutions. Around 40–50% of your time will go to business analysis. The rest is development, configuration and support.\n\nYou’ll be based at our Sofia office, working side by side with our colleagues. The role requires more than 80% office presence, which makes it much easier to learn both the technology and the energy trading business.\n\nPractical experience with Java and SQL is required for this role, and all shortlisted candidates will complete technical assessment.\n\nFounded in 2013, Dataciders ROITI is a boutique consultancy specializing in energy trading and risk management (ETRM). We work with leading ETRM platforms for some of the biggest energy companies in Europe, across power, gas, oil, coal, freight, emissions and financial markets.\n\nWhat you’ll do\n\nDevelopment\n\nDevelop, debug and maintain Java code within ETRM systems\n\nWrite and optimize SQL queries\n\nTake part in configuration, deployments and ongoing maintenance\n\nConsulting\n\nWork with clients to analyze their processes, products and requirements\n\nAnalyze existing system functionality and design solutions, either within the current software or by building new ones\n\nProvide technical support to clients and users and resolve issues promptly\n\nTeamwork\n\nWork in an agile team alongside senior colleagues and help improve how we work\n\nMust-have\n\nAt least 1 year of hands-on Java experience (commercial work, internship, or substantial personal/university projects you can show us)\n\nGood grasp of core Java: OOP, collections, exceptions, generics, working with an IDE and debugger\n\nAbility to write SQL queries independently: JOINs, GROUP BY, subqueries, INSERT/UPDATE, and a basic understanding of indexes and table design\n\nExperience with Git\n\nFluent written and spoken English\n\nComfortable communicating with clients and explaining technical topics clearly\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\n\nProactive, eager to learn the business behind the code, and open to feedback\n\nNice-to-have\n\nExperience with Oracle or MS SQL Server\n\nKnowledge of the energy or finance sectors\n\nWhat
