This client-facing position combines mine planning expertise with consulting, software implementation, training, technical support, and pre-sales activities.\nThe consultant will support a broad range of open pit planning workflows across metals and stratigraphic deposits. The technical portfolio includes MineScape for commodities such as coal, mineral sands, potash, and phosphate, together with Studio NPVS+, Studio OP, Datamine Tactical Scheduler, Studio Survey, and Minemax solutions for optimization, design, scheduling, survey, and operational planning.\nThe successful candidate will bring practical mine planning experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate client requirements into effective technical workflows. Datamine provides software covering the full mining value chain, helping thousands of customers improve productivity, safety, and sustainability.\nKey Responsibilities\nConsulting Implementation and Mine Planning\nLead consulting and implementation projects for open pit metals and stratigraphic deposit operations.\nDeploy, configure, and support MineScape applications for stratigraphic modeling, mine design, scheduling, and operational planning.\nAdapt software and workflows to client requirements in coal, mineral sands, potash, phosphate, and metals operations.\nApply Studio NPVS+ to strategic open pit planning, pit optimization, scheduling, and scenario analysis.\nUse Studio OP for medium- and short-term pit design, waste dump scheduling, haulage optimization, and blending.\nApply Datamine Tactical Scheduler, Studio Survey, Minemax, and other planning tools as required by client engagements.\nConduct or support due diligence reviews, life-of-mine plans, trade-off studies, and proof-of-concept models.\nIntegrate geological models, survey data, mine designs, schedules, and operational plans into practical planning workflows.\nTraining Client Success and Support\nDeliver onsite and remote training, workshops, and mentoring for engineers, planners, surveyors, and operations personnel.\nDevelop tailored learning materials and practical exercises that support successful software adoption.\nGuide users through workflows for stratigraphic modeling, pit optimization, mine design, scheduling, haulage, blending, survey integration, and operational planning.\nTroubleshoot technical and workflow issues and provide responsive, practical recommendations based on mine planning best practices.\nBuild trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to improve workflows, expand solution use, and strengthen long-term value.\nPre Sales and Product Collaboration\nSupport the sales team through technical product demonstrations, presentations, discovery sessions, and responses to client questions.\nDevelop proof-of-concept models and tailored workflows that demonstrate how Datamine solutions address client requirements.\nCollaborate with product, support, and research and development teams, providing client feedback that improves functionality and user experience.\nMaintain awareness of related industry software, including Deswik, Maptek, Hexagon, Micromine, Surpac, Minex, and Carlson, to support client advisory and solution positioning.\nDevelop working knowledge across the wider Datamine planning portfolio to support multidisciplinary client engagements.\nRequired Qualifications and Experience\nDegree in Mining Engineering from a recognized university.\nAt least three years of relevant professional experience in a mining company, mining consultancy, or mining software organization.\nHands-on open pit mine planning experience in metals or stratigraphic deposits; experience across both areas is an advantage.\nPractical experience with mine planning software used for geological modeling, optimization, design, scheduling, haulage, blending, or survey workflows.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert technical requirements into practical solutions.\nExcellent written and verbal communication, presentation, training, and client engagement skills.\nAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively with regional and global teams.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with MineScape, Studio NPVS+, Studio OP, Datamine Tactical Scheduler, Studio Survey, or Minemax.\nExperience in stratigraphic deposit planning for coal, mineral sands, potash, or phosphate operations.\nExpertise in pit optimization, pushback design, mine scheduling, haulage optimization, blending, and scenario analysis.\nExperience completing or supporting feasibility studies, life-of-mine plans, due diligence reviews, or trade-off studies.\nFamiliarity with CAD-based mine planning systems and the integration of geological, survey, and operational data.\nKnowledge of mining disclosure and reporting frameworks such as NI 43-101, JORC, and S-K 1300.\nProven ability to deliver software training and support organizational adoption of new technology and workflows.\nLocation Work Authorization and Travel\nLocation: Canada or USA\nWork authorization: Must already have the legal right to work in Canada or USA.\nTravel: Willingness and ability to travel within North America for client engagements, training, and project delivery.\nCompensation and Benefits\nDatamine North America offers a competitive compensation package aligned with the mining software market.
