This role is ideal for candidates with 1 to 5 years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or facility controls engineering who are looking to expand their technical expertise while contributing to critical building operations and special projects.\nThe Junior Building Automation Controls Engineer will serve as an on-site technical resource, supporting daily building operations, assisting with troubleshooting and maintenance of automation systems, and participating in capital improvement and special project initiatives. This position is critical to ensuring reliable building performance and providing local support for a remotely managed engineering team.\nThe successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of basic control systems, be comfortable working independently, and preferably have experience or familiarity with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or construction trades.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuilding Automation System Support\nMonitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) and related controls infrastructure.\nRespond to system alarms, operational issues, and occupant comfort concerns.\nAssist with diagnosing HVAC equipment, sensors, actuators, controllers, networked devices, and control sequences.\nPerform routine inspections of automation systems and document findings.\nVerify proper operation of equipment through trend analysis and system monitoring.\nCoordinate with vendors and service providers performing maintenance and controls work.\nOn-Site Operations Support\nServe as the primary on-site controls resource during assigned shifts.\nConduct field investigations and provide real-time support for operational issues.\nPerform basic control point verification, calibration checks, and functional testing.\nSupport preventive maintenance activities involving HVAC and controls systems.\nCommunicate site conditions, operational concerns, and project updates to remote management.\nProject Support\nSupport special projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning activities, and system integrations.\nAssist with BAS graphics updates, point databases, and documentation efforts.\nParticipate in testing and verification of newly installed controls systems.\nReview field installations to verify compliance with project requirements.\nCoordinate with engineering, facilities, IT, contractors, and commissioning teams.\nDocumentation & Reporting\nMaintain accurate service records, troubleshooting logs, and project documentation.\nCreate and update system documentation, network diagrams, and control narratives as required.\nProvide regular status updates and written reports to management.\nAssist in developing operational procedures and best practices.\nRequirements\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in:\nBuilding Automation Systems\nHVAC Controls\nMechanical Engineering Technology\nElectrical Engineering Technology\nIndustrial Controls\nRelated technical field\n1 to 5 years of experience in one or more of the following:\nBuilding Automation Systems (BAS)\nHVAC controls\nFacility operations\nControls engineering\nMechanical or electrical systems\nBasic understanding of:\nHVAC equipment and operations\nDirect Digital Controls (DDC)\nControl devices, sensors, actuators, and relays\nBuilding automation software platforms\nElectrical and mechanical troubleshooting practices\nAbility to read and interpret:\nControl drawings\nWiring diagrams\nSequences of operation\nMechanical and electrical plans\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently with limited on-site supervision.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with common BAS platforms such as:\nSiemens\nJohnson Controls\nTrane\nHoneywell\nSchneider Electric\nAutomated Logic\nDistech\nNiagara Framework\nKnowledge of HVAC mechanical systems including:\nAir handling units\nChillers\nBoilers\nVAV systems\nCRAC/Computer room cooling systems\nExperience in one or more skilled trades:\nHVAC\nElectrical\nControls installation\nMechanical maintenance\nConstruction\nFamiliarity with:\nBACnet\nModbus\nLonWorks\nIP networking fundamentals\nExposure to commissioning or retro-commissioning activities.\nKey Competencies\nTechnical troubleshooting\nIndependent decision-making\nAttention to detail\nCustomer service orientation\nStrong communication skills\nTime management and prioritization\nAbility to coordinate across multiple teams\nAdaptability in a fast-paced operational environment\nWork Environment\nFull-time, on-site position.\nShift coverage required;
