and ensures controls systems operate reliably and consistently across multiple facilities.\nThe Senior BMS Manager/Director directly supervises Junior Controls Engineers, provides technical leadership to the controls engineering function, and works closely with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and other internal teams.\nThe role requires extensive domestic and international travel, including France, and the ability to provide technical leadership during critical operational issues outside regular business hours.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities:\nBMS & Controls Engineering:\nLead the design, programming, configuration, integration, commissioning, and optimization of BMS and Building Automation Systems (BAS) across DataOne facilities. \nProvide technical oversight of Automated Logic (ALC) WebCTRL, Direct Digital Control (DDC), SCADA, and associated automation platforms. \nOversee controls integration with critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, UPS systems, generators, and related equipment. \nEstablish and maintain engineering standards, technical specifications, sequences of operation, system documentation, and controls-related procedures. \nReview and approve controls designs, programming modifications, system configurations, and technical changes within assigned authority. \nEvaluate system architecture, redundancy, alarm management, and control strategies to support mission-critical system reliability. \nLead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions involving BMS and controls system failures. \nLeadership & Team Management:\nDirectly supervise Junior Controls Engineers, including work assignments, performance evaluations, coaching, training, and professional development. \nProvide technical direction and coordinate engineering priorities with the Lead Controls Engineer and other controls personnel. \nEstablish team expectations, performance standards, and technical procedures to support consistent operations across multiple facilities. \nSupport hiring, onboarding, training, and workforce planning for the controls engineering team. \nIdentify technical skill gaps and develop training initiatives to strengthen team capabilities. \nPromote accountability, collaboration, workplace safety, and continuous improvement throughout the controls engineering function. \nData Center Operations & System Reliability\nOversee BMS performance, operational readiness, and system reliability across both U.S. data center facilities. \nSupport monitoring and control of environmental conditions, critical equipment performance, system alarms, and operational infrastructure. \nDevelop and maintain procedures for incident response, system troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and operational escalation. \nProvide senior technical leadership during critical system incidents, including those occurring outside standard business hours. \nCoordinate with Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and other engineering teams to identify and resolve controls-related operational risks.\nEvaluate system performance and implement improvements to support uptime, energy efficiency, equipment reliability, and operational consistency.\nEngineering Projects & Continuous Improvement:\nProvide technical leadership during infrastructure expansions, new installations, system upgrades, commissioning, and operational improvement projects.\nCollaborate with Design, Construction, Procurement, IT, and Operations teams to ensure controls systems meet operational and engineering requirements. \nReview contractor and vendor deliverables, including controls drawings, sequences of operation, programming, testing procedures, and commissioning documentation. \nOversee system testing, functional performance verification, and acceptance activities for new or modified controls infrastructure.\nEvaluate emerging technologies, automation solutions, and opportunities to improve BMS performance and reliability. \nSupport project planning, resource allocation, vendor coordination, and technical budget development as required. \nMulti-Site Leadership & International Collaboration:\nProvide technical oversight and support for BMS and controls operations across both U.S. data center locations. \nEstablish consistent engineering practices, operational procedures, and system performance expectations across supported facilities.\nTravel regularly between U.S. sites to support engineering activities, operational requirements, and team development.\nCollaborate with international engineering and operations teams to support technical initiatives, knowledge sharing, and standardization. \nTravel internationally, including France, to support DataOne operations and controls engineering initiatives. \nServe as a senior technical resource for BMS-related decisions, system improvements, and critical operational issues. \nRequirements\nMinimum Qualifications:\nMinimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Building Management Systems (BMS), building automation, controls engineering, or related mission-critical infrastructure systems. \nMinimum of 5 years of experience in technical leadership, engineering management, or supervision of controls engineering personnel. \nAdvanced knowledge and hands-on experience with Automated Logic (ALC) WebCTRL, Direct Digital Control (DDC), and building automation systems. \nStrong technical understanding of HVAC controls, mechanical infrastructure, electrical systems, SCADA, and their integration with building automation systems. \nDemonstrated experience overseeing complex controls engineering projects, including system design, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization. \nExperience establishing engineering standards, developing technical procedures, conducting root cause analysis, and managing system reliability. \nProven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop engineering personnel while coordinating technical priorities across multiple teams and locations.\nStrong leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex technical responsibilities.\nAbility and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally, including France.\nAbility to respond to critical operational issues outside normal business hours as required. \nPreferred Qualifications:\n10+ years of progressive experience in building automation, controls engineering, or mission-critical infrastructure. \n5+ years of direct people-management experience, including performance management and technical team development. \nExperience supporting Tier III, hyperscale, or other large-scale mission-critical data center environments. \nAdvanced experience with Automated Logic WebCTRL, BACnet, Modbus, SCADA, and related automation protocols.\nExperience overseeing multi-site BMS operations, infrastructure expansion, commissioning, and controls system standardization. \nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline. \nRelevant industry certifications or specialized training in building automation, controls engineering, or data center infrastructure. \nWork Environment & Schedule Requirements:\nThis is a full-time senior leadership position based in the U.S. East Coast region, supporting multiple DataOne data center facilities. \nThe position generally follows a weekday schedule but requires flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.\nMust be available to provide leadership and technical support during critical BMS related incidents in a 24/7 mission-critical operating environment. \nExtensive domestic and international travel is required, including regular travel between U.S. facilities and travel to France. \nWork involves both office-based responsibilities and on-site activities within active data center environments, mechanical spaces, and electrical equipment areas. \nPhysical & Environmental Requirements:\nAbility to walk, stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders while conducting site inspections and supporting engineering activities. \nAbility to access equipment rooms, mechanical spaces, rooftops, and other designated facility areas as required.\nAbility to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including areas with varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, and operating mechanical and electrical equipment. \nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all applicable workplace safety procedures. \nAbility to travel frequently and support operational requirements at multiple
