Reporting to the Director of Shared Services Accounting, this position leads the payroll team and partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Treasury, Legal, and external payroll providers.\nThe Payroll Manager is accountable for end-to-end payroll delivery across all four countries, including payroll processing and controls, regulatory compliance, tax reporting, reconciliations, payroll systems and vendor coordination, employee service, and continuous improvement of payroll and timekeeping processes.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nLead accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for 1,000+ employees across the U.S., Canada, Costa Rica, and Brazil, including wages, commissions, bonuses, taxes, benefit deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related transactions.\nLead and develop a payroll team of two, currently consisting of a Principal Payroll Analyst and Senior Payroll Specialist, establishing priorities, reviewing work, ensuring appropriate coverage, and supporting employee development.\nOversee global payroll delivery across the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and Costa Rica, ensuring payrolls are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with applicable requirements.\nMaintain effective payroll controls, review procedures, approvals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to promote payroll accuracy, data integrity, and audit readiness.\nEnsure payroll tax compliance, including quarterly and annual filings, year-end reporting, reconciliations, and coordination with external payroll and tax providers.\nPartner with Accounting on payroll-related general ledger reconciliations, month-end close activities, accruals, and supporting documentation.\nCoordinate payroll funding with Treasury, including wages, taxes, garnishments, retirement contributions, and other payroll-related payments.\nManage payroll vendors and escalations, including service delivery, issue resolution, compliance matters, and operational performance.\nPartner with HR, Legal, and other stakeholders to assess payroll implications of regulatory and business changes.\nLead payroll process improvement, documenting processes, identifying control or efficiency opportunities, and implementing scalable solutions.\nPartner with HCM business analysts to evaluate, test, and implement payroll-related system upgrades, configurations, and business-process improvements.\nEstablish and communicate payroll calendars, policies, procedures, and deadlines to employees, managers, and business partners.\nSupport payroll-related audits, including the annual 401(k) audit, and provide payroll reporting and analysis to Accounting, HR, and other stakeholders.\nMinimum Experience\n 10+ years of progressively responsible payroll experience, including multi-state U.S. payroll and international payroll operations.\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or human resources (or related field).\nCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification required.\nDemonstrated experience leading payroll professionals, including experience managing global and/or remote team members.\nStrong knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll taxation, reconciliations, controls, and compliance requirements.\nExperience supporting international payroll operations and working across borders and time zones.\nExperience troubleshooting payroll processing issues and analyzing payroll reports and data.\nTechnical Knowledge and Preferred Experience\nExperience with Workday and CloudPay, or comparable HCM and global payroll platforms.\nKnowledge of payroll processing and accounting for expatriate employees preferred.\nIntermediate or greater proficiency in Microsoft Excel.\nProficient computer, organizational, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.\nCore Competencies\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, including during periods of ambiguity and change.\nSolid time-management skills and ability to prioritize assignments in a dynamic work environment.\nDesire to investigate underlying issues, identify root causes, and drive work to resolution.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with Human Resources, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, and other stakeholders.\nAbility to lead effectively in a team environment and collaborate across functions, borders, and time zones.\nHigh regard for confidential information and excellent professional judgment.\nContinuous-improvement mindset, flexibility, and willingness to learn and adapt.\nThe base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position based on a good faith assessment of the role and market data at the time of posting. Consistent with applicable law, each candidate’s compensation offer may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, your geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience along with the requirements of the position. This position may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or overtime if applicable.
