You’ll drive innovation across verticals, solve large-scale system challenges, and mentor senior engineers to maximize impact. You operate with autonomy and influence outcomes at the vertical and/or organizational level.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDefine and lead multi-team technical strategies for scalability and interoperability.\nDesign frameworks and reusable systems used across multiple engineering pods. Define engineering patterns adopted across Datavant.\nDrive cross-functional initiatives in data architecture, security, and reliability.\nAdvise leadership on technical direction and major tradeoffs. Represent engineering in executive technical decisions and planning.\nMentor senior engineers and influence cultural and architectural evolution.\nTech Stack You’ll Work With\nAs a Staff Software Engineer, you will work across the full breadth of Datavant’s platform and are expected to operate comfortably within our multi-cloud, large-scale distributed systems environment. Your work will span:\nBackend: Python, Go, Java; microservices; REST and GraphQL\n Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js (as needed for full-stack or cross-domain work)\nInfrastructure & Cloud: AWS, multi-cloud architectures, Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tooling\nData Platforms: Snowflake, Spark, SQL, S3; advanced data engineering workflows and high-scale data pipelines\nETL & Orchestration: Airflow or AWS Glue\nStreaming: Kafka or Kinesis for real-time ingestion and system integrations\nObservability: Enterprise-level telemetry systems including DataDog, Grafana, and CloudWatch\nSecurity & Compliance: OAuth2/SAML, encryption, tokenization, and zero-trust security frameworks\nStaff Engineers at this level are expected to apply deep architectural expertise across these technologies, define scalable patterns, guide cross-team adoption, and ensure Datavant’s platform meets the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.\nWhat You Bring\n10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated system design mastery.\nDeep experience with large-scale distributed systems, multi-cloud architectures, data pipelines, and security.\nStrong organizational influence and ability to align teams across verticals.\nAbility to translate strategic objectives into scalable engineering execution.\nCommitment to mentorship, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.\nLeadership Qualities & Mindset\nOperate as a trusted technical advisor and thought leader.
