AI Product Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer

Remote (North America; San Francisco or Austin preferred) · Full-time
Compensation: $140K–$180K base + competitive equity

Our client is an early-stage, venture-backed AI infrastructure company that helps enterprises trust their voice AI agents. Their platform covers testing before launch, adversarial stress-testing, and monitoring of live calls in production. They already serve enterprise customers in regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, and telecom, and revenue has grown quickly over the past year.

We're looking for an early-career engineer who wants to split their time between building product and working directly with customers. You'll sit with the technical teams who use the platform, figure out what they actually need, and then build and ship it yourself. The team ships several times a day, the founder still writes code, and there are no handoffs between the person who hears the problem and the person who solves it.

• Working closely with enterprise engineering teams to uncover gaps, then scoping and shipping the fix yourself
• Taking features from first conversation through prototype, launch, and iteration, across both frontend and backend
• Acting as a hands-on technical partner during pilots and after the sale
• Turning one-off customer solutions into reusable parts of the platform
• Using AI coding tools as a normal part of how you build, so you can move at startup speed

• Up to about 3 years of experience in a role that mixes coding with customer contact, such as product engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or running your own startup
• Something you built and shipped that real people used, whether at work, as a founder, or as a side project
• Time spent at a startup, founder-led company, or fast-moving team where you owned work from start to finish
• A degree from a top-tier computer science or engineering program (our client recruits from a defined list of leading universities)
• AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex are part of your everyday workflow, and you can explain concretely how they change the way you plan and ship
• Solid TypeScript and Python, with the range to work across APIs, data, and user interfaces to deliver a complete feature
• Strong ownership and clear writing: you start with whatever context is available, move quickly, and keep everyone updated on progress and next steps
• An entrepreneurial streak, such as founding something, applying to an accelerator, or growing a side project with real traction
• Willingness to travel roughly 10 to 20 percent of the time for customer visits, conferences, and team offsites

• Some experience working with enterprise customers, or a clear interest in growing into that kind of work

• Work at the infrastructure layer of voice AI, one of the fastest-growing areas in applied AI
• A company with real customers, real usage, and real revenue, not a pre-product bet
• A small, senior-leaning team where more than half the people have founded companies
• Genuine ownership from your first week and direct influence on the product roadmap
• Competitive salary and equity at a company early enough for that equity to matter

• Location: Remote within North America (San Francisco or Austin preferred)
• Work policy: Remote-first, with 10 to 20 percent travel
• Compensation: $140,000–$180,000 + equity
