EPG can be used in a wide variety of food applications (e.g., frying and baking, as well as confectionery and snack applications).\nAbout the Role\nEpogee is seeking a Principal Separation Scientist to join our analytical team, with a focus on HPLC and GC method development and execution in support of R&D discovery workstreams.\nYou will be the analytical “source of truth” to provide objective data to multiple simultaneous workstreams. A core part of the role is judgment: knowing what level of analytical rigor a given project actually needs, and recommending methods accordingly - whether that's fast directional data or a fully validated, regulatory-grade method. You'll also be integrating the latest AI tools to supercharge your work, from basic data analysis to supporting innovation with rapid iteration. This is a hands-on, laboratory-focused role for someone who wants to grow their career by deepening their technical knowledge of working with analytical equipment. You'll report to the Director of R&D, work alongside another member of the analytical team, and collaborate with scientists across the broader R&D group.\n\nResponsibilities\nDevelop, optimize, and execute HPLC and GC/GC-MS methods for lipid and other molecular characterization, analyte quantitation, and impurity profiling\nSupport multiple discovery workstreams, coordinating closely with other team members\nRecommend analytical approaches based on project stage and business need\nIndependently troubleshoot instrumentation, methods, and data anomalies\nSupport method validation, gauge R&R, and documentation for regulatory submissions (EFSA, US GRAS, Health Canada)\nContinually grow your expertise by expanding into additional analytical techniques as needed, including rheology and benchtop NMR\nMaintain rigorous documentation and data integrity standards\nPartner with instrument vendors and service providers on qualification and maintenance\nRequirements\nMS or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or related field\n5+ years of hands-on HPLC and GC experience, ideally in food, lipid, or pharma chemistry\nDemonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot instrumentation and methods\nStrong judgment on matching analytical rigor to project stage and business need - comfortable moving fast when speed matters and being exacting when the situation calls for it\nDetail-oriented with excellent documentation habits\nExperience with rheology and/or benchtop NMR, or willingness to cross-train\nExperience integrating AI tools into scientific or lab workflows\nEnjoys hands-on lab work and wants to grow a career at the bench\nComfortable working closely within a small, cross-functional team\nBenefits\nThis is a full-time, in-office role based in New York City.
