We are looking for candidates who have the right technical foundation, a strong willingness to learn, and the ability to grow into an APIC-focused role.\nRole Overview\nAs a Junior APIC Developer, you will work with experienced developers, architects, and platform teams to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise APIs.\nYou will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience with IBM API Connect, API security, API gateway policies, and enterprise API management while contributing to projects for a major Canadian financial institution.\nKey Responsibilities\nLearn and work with IBM API Connect (APIC) to develop and manage enterprise APIs.\nAssist with the full API lifecycle, including API design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.\nDevelop and maintain REST and SOAP APIs and work with JSON and XML data formats.\nAssist with configuring API Gateway policies, including security, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and data transformation.\nSupport API integrations with backend systems, databases, microservices, and enterprise applications.\nLearn and apply API security concepts such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, and TLS.\nParticipate in API testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance monitoring.\nWork with senior developers and architects to analyze requirements and implement technical solutions.\nSupport API deployments through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.\nMaintain technical documentation for APIs, integrations, configurations, and support procedures.\nFollow enterprise development, security, governance, and coding standards.\nParticipate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and team activities.\nContinuously develop technical skills in API management, integration technologies, and IBM API Connect.\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\nTechnical Foundation\n0-2 years of software development or related IT experience; new graduates with strong technical skills are welcome.\nGood understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and XML.\nBasic knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming.\nExperience with at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Python, or similar.\nBasic understanding of databases and SQL.\nFamiliarity with Git and source-code management.\nBasic understanding of software development lifecycle and testing concepts.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nLearning Mindset\n IBM API Connect (APIC) experience is an asset but is not required.\nStrong interest in learning IBM API Connect, API Gateway, and enterprise API management.\nDemonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply new knowledge to practical problems.\nSelf-motivated, curious, and willing to work with senior team members to develop specialized technical skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExposure to IBM API Connect, MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or other API management platforms.\nExperience developing or consuming REST or SOAP APIs.\nFamiliarity with OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS, OpenID Connect, LDAP, or SAML.\nExposure to cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.\nExposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.\nUnderstanding of microservices architecture.\nExperience working in an Agile/DevOps environment.\nComputer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related degree/diploma.\nWhat We Offer\nOpportunity to work with a major Canadian financial institution.\nHands-on exposure to enterprise API management and integration technologies.\nOpportunity to develop specialized skills in IBM API Connect.\nMentorship and support from experienced technical professionals.\nA long-term career opportunity in enterprise API development and platform engineering.\nCompetitive compensation and benefits.\nWho We Are Looking For\nWe are particularly interested in candidates who may not have had the opportunity to work with IBM API Connect yet but have a solid software development foundation and are serious about learning and building a career in API development.\nIf you are a junior developer, recent graduate, or early-career IT professional with strong programming fundamentals, API knowledge, and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.\nWe thank all applicants for their interest.
