The Development Manager must have a proven technical background and ability to effectively manage a team of engineers. The Development Manager ensures that the development team is able to work efficiently with solid designs and clear short and long-term goals, mitigating any impediments in the process. From initial project scope to full life cycle development, the Development Manager assures successful delivery and operation of our solutions.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nLead a team of software and quality engineers to deliver award-winning product\n\nManage the day-to-day development rigor of multiple development projects / teams by documenting requirements, analyzing, scoping, planning, engineering, implementing, testing, and communicating\n\nParticipate in key Scrum events and run daily stand-ups to assess and determine obstacles and risks in the current schedule and resolve them\n\nContribute in enhancing Development Guidelines to improve consistency across the application\n\nPromote awareness and implementation of engineering best practices\n\nWork with Product Owners to plan and prioritize software deliveries, assembling sprint, release, and overall product roadmap plans\n\nCoordinate deliverables with other development teams to assure consistency and manage dependencies\n\nWrite and review code as needed, and provide technical direction to the group in all phases of development\n\nUnderstanding of technical architectures, capacity plans, tool requirements, automation plans, product launch plans, and other deliverables\n\nManage all HR-related tasks such as hiring, mentoring, performance reviews, provide performance feedback, and assist with career development of direct reports, conduct monthly 1-2-1’s etc…\n\nProvide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimal performance\n\nCelebrate success, recognize and promote excellent performers\n\nEnsure effective talent development around product, technology, processes and soft skills\n\nContinuously improve work processes and practices to ensure high quality deliverables\n\nCoordinate work with North American counterparts and ensure a smooth working relationship prevails\n\nContinuously enhance employee experience with a view to maintain high levels of employee engagement and retention\n\nStay updated on emerging software development methodologies and technologies and ensure team is also actively involved through education, research and networking\n\nSuccessfully lead, communicate and implement change\n\nLead tactical initiatives as assigned\n\nHave strong technical background to be able to challenge team on solutioning best practices.\n\nFoster a culture of innovation and ownership to drive the delivery of quality software, and actively seek ways to improve team engagement (measured through eNPS scores).\n\nTrack and report on key metrics for Management information\n\nPerform other assigned duties as required\n\nQualifications &Experience\n\nBS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering\n\nExtensive experience in enterprise software development\n\nDemonstrated track record of hiring, developing, and retaining exceptional talent\n\nStrong technical vision\n\nExperience in leading and successfully completing complex projects\n\nDemonstrate good understanding of Quality assurance process & tools\n\nAbility to learn new software languages, frameworks, and APIs quickly\n\nProficiency with SQL and a thorough understanding of relational database systems\n\nSharp and tenacious troubleshooting skills\n\nExperience working in an Agile development environment\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills\n\nExperience managing the development of SaaS and cloud-based applications\n\nProven ability in leading teams, projects and initiatives\n\nDesired Skills \n\nSolid object-oriented programming using C#, Java\n\nFront end web development with HTML5 and CSS\nKnowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as Dojo, RequireJS, Knockout, Backbone, jQuery is an asset\n\nDomain experience in HR, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance is a significant plus\n\nDeep knowledge of the Dayforce architecture is a significant plus\n\nExperience in using and building Reporting
