The campus is designed to use Finland's naturally cool climate for free cooling, with air-cooled chillers that remove the need for freshwater cooling. Join the Lahti team early and help shape how a campus of this scale is built, commissioned, and run.\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Manager, your responsibility is to oversee the mechanical infrastructure and systems of our hyperscale data centres. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical systems and upholds high standards of safety and compliance. You will lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, ensuring the delivery of critical mechanical services 24/7.\nYour key responsibilities will include\nMechanical System Management\nOversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within the data centres.\nEnsure all mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, chillers, and fire suppression systems, operates reliably and efficiently.\nImplement and maintain mechanical safety policies, procedures, and best practices.\nTeam Leadership\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.\nCoordinate with shift teams to ensure seamless 24/7 coverage and effective handovers between shifts.\nConduct regular training sessions and performance evaluations to enhance team capabilities and productivity.\nMaintenance and Upgrades\nPlan and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring all mechanical equipment and systems are serviced according to manufacturer and company standards.\nCoordinate with vendors and contractors for mechanical maintenance and upgrade projects, ensuring minimal impact on operations.\nSafety and Compliance\nEnsure all mechanical operations comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.\nMaintain up-to-date documentation and records to support compliance audits and certifications.\nTechnical Support\nProvide technical expertise and support for mechanical systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical issues.\nCollaborate with other engineering and operations teams to ensure integrated and efficient system performance.\nStrategic Initiatives\nSupport the Critical Services Manager in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance mechanical system performance and support business growth.\nParticipate in budget planning and cost management activities to ensure operational efficiency and financial performance.\nRequirements\nTechnical skills\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.\nMinimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within a data centre or critical infrastructure environment, with at least 3 to 5 years in a managerial role.\nStrong knowledge of data centre mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, chillers, and fire suppression systems, and the ability to manage complex mechanical challenges.\nProven experience in managing technical teams and 24/7 operations.\nSoft skills\nEffective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.\nProactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced operational environment.\nProficiency in English, both written and spoken.
