You will act as the owner’s representative on MEP quality issues, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are completed to the highest standards, fully compliant, and ready for commissioning and handover.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Defect Identification & Management\nLead and coordinate all MEP defect inspections during the construction and commissioning phases.\nDevelop, maintain, and regularly update the MEP defect register, ensuring clear status tracking, priorities, and closure targets.\nClassify defects by severity, system, and impact on safety, performance, and schedule.\n2. Rectification Oversight\nReview and verify contractor defect rectification proposals, ensuring completeness and compliance with specifications.\nSupervise and coordinate MEP subcontractors’ repair and rework activities on-site to ensure timely and high-quality closure of all punch list items.\nWitness and verify re-testing and re-commissioning of affected systems after defect rectification.\n3. Quality Assurance & Compliance\nEnsure all MEP defect rectification complies with approved drawings, specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.\nConduct random quality checks on completed works to identify potential defects early and prevent recurrence.\nSupport internal and third-party audits related to MEP quality and defect closure.\n4. Coordination & Stakeholder Management\nAct as the primary liaison between the construction team, MEP subcontractors, consultants, and the client on all MEP defect matters.\nParticipate in regular progress, quality, and defect review meetings with the project team and client representatives.\nProvide clear and timely reporting to management on defect trends, progress, and potential risks.\n5. Documentation & Handover\nEnsure all defect reports, inspection records, test results, and as-built updates are accurately documented and filed.\nSupport the preparation of final MEP handover documentation, including O&M manuals and warranties.\nVerify that all punch list items are fully resolved and formally closed out prior to project handover.\n6. Continuous Improvement\nAnalyze root causes of recurring MEP defects and recommend preventive actions to improve construction quality.\nProvide feedback to the design and construction teams to address systemic issues and optimize future project delivery.\nQualifications & Experience\n Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related field).\nExperience:Minimum 8-10 years of experience in MEP construction, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on defect management or quality assurance.\nProven track record managing MEP defects on large-scale data center or mission-critical facility projects.\nExperience working on projects in Malaysia or the Southeast Asia region is highly preferred.\n\nTechnical Knowledge:In-depth understanding of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS, generators, fire protection, plumbing, and BMS/ELV.\nFamiliarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices in data center construction.\n\n Certifications (Preferred):Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM), or equivalent.\nLEED AP, CDCP, or other relevant certifications are advantageous.\n\nDayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
