Reporting to the Head of Legal, the role will build the relationships, policy insight and advocacy needed to support market entry, data centre development and long-term operations.\nThis is a commercially focused leadership role. The successful candidate will translate political and regulatory developments into clear business implications, represent DayOne credibly with senior external stakeholders, and work across Legal, Development, Investment, Operations, Sustainability and country leadership to remove barriers and enable responsible growth.\nKey responsibilities\nGovernment and stakeholder engagement\nDevelop and deliver a global government relations strategy aligned with DayOne’s growth priorities, investment pipeline and operating footprint.\nBuild trusted, long-term relationships with national, regional and local governments, regulators, economic development agencies, utilities, planning authorities and relevant public-sector stakeholders.\nRepresent DayOne in senior-level meetings, consultations, industry forums and public-policy discussions, ensuring the company is positioned as a credible and responsible long-term partner.\nCreate clear stakeholder maps and engagement plans for priority markets, projects and policy issues, with defined objectives, ownership and follow-through.\nCoordinate executive engagement with government stakeholders, including briefing materials, meeting preparation, key messages and actions arising.\nMarket entry and development enablement\nSupport market-entry and expansion activity by assessing the political, regulatory and public-sector landscape and identifying both opportunities and potential barriers.\nPartner with Development, Investments, Legal and country teams on government engagement relating to land, power, permits, infrastructure, incentives and other dependencies critical to data centre delivery.\nHelp shape and communicate DayOne’s investment proposition, including economic contribution, job creation, skills development, sustainability and local community value.\nEngage relevant authorities to support efficient, transparent and compliant pathways for strategic projects without compromising DayOne’s legal, ethical or governance standards.\nPolicy and regulatory affairs\nMonitor and interpret political, legislative and regulatory developments affecting the data centre sector, including energy, sustainability, digital infrastructure, planning, investment, trade, taxation and workforce policy.\nProvide concise, timely advice to senior leaders on business impact, emerging risks, stakeholder positions and recommended action.\nDevelop evidence-based policy positions and consultation responses in partnership with Legal, Sustainability and other subject-matter experts.\nBuild effective relationships with industry associations and coalitions, using them selectively to advance shared policy priorities and strengthen DayOne’s external voice.\nGovernance and risk\nEstablish appropriate governance for government engagement, including engagement protocols, records, reporting, third-party oversight and escalation routes.\nEnsure all activity complies with applicable lobbying, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, competition, gifts and hospitality, sanctions and disclosure requirements.\nPartner closely with the Head of Legal, Compliance and country leadership to identify and manage political, regulatory, reputational and integrity risks.\nSelect and manage external advisers where required, with clear scopes, measurable outcomes and disciplined cost control.\nLeadership and internal partnership\nAct as the central point of coordination for government relations across DayOne, creating consistency while recognising local market requirements.\nBuild capability and awareness among senior leaders and country teams on effective, compliant engagement with public-sector stakeholders.\nProvide regular, decision-oriented reporting to the Head of Legal and executive leadership on priorities, progress, risks and outcomes.\nBuild and lead a fit-for-purpose government relations model as the company grows, including future team design and regional support requirements.\nExperience and qualifications\nSignificant senior-level experience in government relations, public policy, regulatory affairs or a closely related field, gained in a complex, international and highly regulated environment.\nA strong track record of engaging ministers, senior officials, regulators and other public-sector decision-makers across multiple jurisdictions.\nDemonstrated experience supporting market entry, major infrastructure development, investment or other projects dependent on government and regulatory engagement.\nStrong understanding of policy-making, regulatory processes and political risk, with the judgement to separate signal from noise and focus the business on what matters.\nExperience in data centres, digital infrastructure, energy, utilities, real estate, technology, telecommunications or adjacent infrastructure sectors is strongly preferred.\nExperience operating across Europe and Asia Pacific would be advantageous;
