The primary responsibilities include optimizing, maintaining, and repairing complex radio systems and 911 communications centers for customers.\nRoles & Responsibilities:\nInstall and provide technical support for VHF/UHF and 800/900 MHz analog and digital systems, including mobile and portable subscriber equipment.\nMaintain communications console equipment, diagnose, and repair public address systems, emergency vehicle siren, and lighting systems.\nInstall, maintain, and repair base systems, repeaters, remote controls, multiplexers, antenna systems, microwave systems, battery backup systems, and solar power systems.\nWillingness to work after normal business hours when necessary.\nAssist with training of Apprentices and Journeyman Technicians when necessary.\nProvide positive and efficient customer support by diagnosing, troubleshooting, discussing, and resolving wireless communication equipment questions and problems. This can be done in person, over the phone, via email, or at the company's shop location.\nConduct diagnostic and analytical tests to diagnose and repair various wireless communication equipment such as dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, trunked radio systems, and mobile installations.\nAnalyze and interpret diagnostic test results to effectively repair and program radios and wireless equipment.\nCollaborate with customers, vendors, and shop management to determine deadlines, urgency, timelines, and schedules for completing repairs, maintenance, and programming, ensuring that the customer's needs are met.\nPrepare quotes and bids for customer projects.\nAct as the shop's safety coordinator, working closely with the safety representative from the company's headquarters to implement safety training and protocols.\nPerform wireless communications system programming according to industry practices and vendor criteria.\nInstall radio and wireless mobile and base communications systems following industry practices and vendor criteria.\nMaintain availability to work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the nature of supporting public safety and first responder customers, technicians may be required to be on call, including overtime, with minimal notice.\nBe willing to travel, which may include local daily travel or overnight stays.\nEducation and/or Experience:\nThree to five years of experience in 2-way radio and wireless communication systems theory. Proficient in computer usage, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of complex communication systems.\nAn associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or vocational school in electronics and wireless system repair is preferred but not required.\nExperience in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and programming wireless communication equipment, such as 2-way radios, transmitters, receivers, and antennas for customers.\nExperienced with dispatch consoles, paging infrastructure, and trunked radio systems. Knowledge of radio repair, mobile installations, DC, AC, and RF Theory as it applies to wireless communications.\nLicenses, Certifications:\nAn industry license (FCC, FICA or NARTE).\nA valid driver license and insurability in the state of employment.\nCET or NABER certification.\nCompany Overview:\nDay Wireless Systems is the largest full-service wireless integrator in the West.
