DBS

DBS is a Singapore-headquartered banking and financial services group offering consumer banking, wealth management, private banking, institutional banking and treasury and markets services, based at Marina Bay Financial Centre. Established in 1968 as the Development Bank of Singapore, it is one of the country's three big local banks and has a growing presence in Greater China, Southeast Asia and South Asia, including operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and Indonesia. Openings in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei and Indian cities cover risk management, relationship managers, operations, compliance, software engineering and architecture, product management and graduate programmes.

Guided by our vision to be the “Best Bank for a Better World”, DBS seeks to create long-term value for stakeholders in a sustainable way. We see sustainability as an active value driver that offers new opportunities, enhances resilience against sustainability-related risks and strengthens trust with our stakeholders.

Functions of the CSO Team

The Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) sets DBS’ Group-wide sustainability direction and governance agenda and coordinates delivery of its sustainability commitments with teams across the bank. It serves as a central team supporting senior management in integrating the Group’s strategic sustainability direction into the business.

The CSO works with senior management and key governance forums, including the Board Sustainability Committee, Group Sustainability Council and Group Climate Council, to align priorities and drive delivery against the Group’s sustainability scorecard. It leads or coordinates strategic sustainability initiatives and develops relevant policies, frameworks and guidance to support consistent implementation across the bank.

The CSO also brings an outside-in view of market, regulatory, and client trends, and translate these into clear, practical actions for the bank. It leads sustainability reporting and engagement with key external stakeholders on sustainability matters, including regulators, investors, industry bodies and ecosystem partners.

We are seeking an Associate who can analyse and synthesise complex information, to provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations to inform decisions and delivery of the bank’s strategic sustainability priorities. The role will also involve the coordination and delivery of agreed actions across multiple stakeholders. The role suits a rigorous, adaptable thinker who challenges assumptions, exercises sound judgement. The successful candidate should also demonstrate curiosity, a growth mindset and a willingness to learn across different sustainability workstreams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This role offers the opportunity to work across the Chief Sustainability Office’s priorities. The Associate will be expected to:

  • Contribute to strategic priorities by supporting senior management and key governance forums with concise analyses, recommendations, agendas and papers, and helping to follow agreed actions through to completion.
  • Translate external developments into practical insights by assessing relevant market, regulatory, technology and industry trends and identifying their implications for DBS.
  • Engage teams across DBS units and markets to shape the approach, coordinate implementation and support consistent delivery of sustainability priorities.
  • Support internal engagements and capability building across the bank by developing practical tools, guidance, communications and learning initiatives.
  • Support external engagements with regulators, industry groups and ecosystem partners by coordinating inputs, preparing relevant materials and ensuring clear follow-through on agreed actions.

First-Year Success Profile

  • Build a strong understanding of DBS’ sustainability priorities, governance and stakeholder landscape.
  • Deliver assigned works to agreed scope, milestones and quality standards, with challenges/risks surfaced early.
  • Earn trust with senior stakeholders through well-supported recommendations, crisp executive materials and reliable follow-through.

Differentiated Capabilities

  • Strong interest and working knowledge of key sustainability-related themes and developments (e.g. regulatory, geopolitical, technological), with the judgement to distinguish signal from noise.
  • Applies critical thinking to complex or ambiguous issues, developing clear options, well-supported recommendations and practical next steps.
  • Engages stakeholders effectively by building constructive working relationships, adapting communication for different audiences.
  • Takes ownership of assigned work with high attention to detail and adapts constructively while working collaboratively with others.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in sustainability/environmental, business, finance or a related field.
  • Two or more years of working experience in a relevant field, exposure to financial services is advantageous.
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop executive-ready materials with clear insights and recommendations.
