This position reports to the Executive Attorney.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nDrafts research memoranda and provides advice to prepare Board and Hearing Committee members for oral arguments and hearings, and in response to questions from members. \nAssists in the preparation of Board and Hearing Committee reports, including legal research, proofreading and cite checking.\nAssists in the review of motions and preparation of recommendations to responsible Hearing Committee and Board members.\nMaintains summaries of D.C. Court of Appeals opinions and Board Reports.\nObtains and forwards pertinent information including case summaries, legal memoranda and abstracts of recently decided cases to Hearing Committee and Board members.\nMaintains office research memoranda and files.\nAssists with preparation for periodic Hearing Committee and Board Trainings including preparation of training material.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nJD from an ABA accredited law school. \nMust be a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar. Candidates with a pending application to the D.C. Bar may be considered.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office 365. Proficiency in Westlaw and other electronic legal research.\nFamiliarity with the Bluebook;\nAbility to write clearly and concisely regarding complex legal and procedural issues.\nDemonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment. \nExcellent oral and written communication skills. \nMust be detail oriented and deadline driven. Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. \nExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
