The awkward sentence. The questionable fact. The headline that could work just that little bit harder.\nYou’ll work closely with our editors, designers and production colleagues to make sure every piece of content is accurate, engaging and ready for publication, whether it’s destined for print or digital.\nWhat you’ll be doing\nYou’ll be hands-on with content every day, including:\nSub-editing, proofreading and polishing copy for accuracy, consistency and readability\nReworking content where needed while keeping the writer’s original voice and intent\nCrafting headlines, standfirsts, captions and other display copy\nFact-checking names, dates, quotes and story details\nMaking sure content meets our house style, editorial standards and publishing requirements\nWorking closely with editors, designers and production colleagues to keep things moving\nPreparing content for both print and digital publication\nManaging competing priorities and deadlines across different titles\nGetting to grips with our publishing systems, tools and evolving technology, including AI-assisted editorial tools\nPlaying your part in maintaining the quality and trust our readers expect from our magazines\nRequirements\nWhat we’re looking for\nYou’ll have a strong editorial eye, excellent written English and a genuine instinct for what makes copy work.\nIdeally, you’ll bring:\nPrevious experience in sub-editing, editorial production, publishing, newspapers, magazines or content production\nExcellent copy-editing and proofreading skills\nStrong attention to detail and confidence fact-checking content\nThe ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences\nGood knowledge of editorial standards, copyright and publishing considerations\nExperience working with CMS or editorial production systems\nGreat organisation and the ability to juggle deadlines without compromising quality\nA collaborative approach and the confidence to work across editorial, design and production teams\nExperience with Adobe InDesign, image-editing software or AI-assisted editorial tools would be useful, but isn’t essential.\nA little about you\nYou’re naturally curious, meticulous without losing sight of the bigger picture, and probably the person who spots the typo everyone else has read past three times.\nYou’re comfortable working at pace, happy switching between different styles and audiences, and you know that great sub-editing isn’t just about correcting copy.
