Our mission is to deliver high-quality and robust software that quickly solves customer pain points while keeping them in control throughout the engagement.\nMain focus of the role\nWe are looking for a self-starting Senior Full Stack Engineer with deep experience in C# and .NET, and in Angular or React. You lead the design and delivery of complex systems and features, and you set the technical approach that other engineers build on. The role is client-facing. You take a client requirement and turn it into software that is secure, maintainable and fit for the business it serves.\nThe role is based in South Africa, in Johannesburg, Cape Town or remote. You will report to a Technical People Lead and work with distributed teams in London, New Zealand, India and the US. Expect to work on more than one engagement, and expect the mix to change as our client work changes.\nYou will also use AI every day. Our engineers use AI coding tools such as Claude Code to design, write, test and review code. We work within an approved toolset, and you stay accountable for every line that carries your name. We expect you to arrive able to do this well, to review AI-generated code at least as hard as your own, and to know when human judgement must lead.\nWhat you’ll do\nThe work falls into five areas. The first three take most of your time.\nDesign the systemLead the design of complex systems and features, and define the technical approach for the team\nSelect and justify the tools, languages and frameworks for each project\nDesign systems with clear boundaries, consistent patterns and good documentation, so that people and AI tools can extend them safely\nLead schema and data model design, and choose the database technology that fits the problem\nDocument architecture for technical and non-technical readers\n\nBuild across the stackLead service-oriented backend design in C# and .NET, including API versioning, distributed systems patterns and secure-by-design architecture\nArchitect complex front ends in Angular or React, and hold the team to accessibility and performance standards\nUse AI tools to design, write, test and review code, and treat prompt design as a core technical skill\nReview AI-assisted code for maintainability, security, architectural fit and domain accuracy, and challenge output you do not fully understand\nLead the migration of legacy applications to modern technologies and infrastructure\n\nShip it safelyDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines with quality gates, contract testing and rollout strategies such as feature flags and blue-green deployment\nDefine test strategies across components, so that automated tests stay reliable, fast and meaningful\nDesign cloud infrastructure that is secure, scalable, compliant and cost-effective\nDefine SLOs and SLIs, and use distributed tracing and telemetry to diagnose system-wide issues\n\nWork with the clientLead technical conversations with clients and stakeholders, and explain trade-offs at the right level of detail\nWork with analysts, product owners and project managers to shape scope and delivery phases based on technical feasibility\nBreak complex problems into small, well-defined tickets with clear outcomes, dependencies and decision context\nKnow when to move fast with AI and when to slow down for critical logic, security, compliance or domain-sensitive work\n\nHelp others growMentor engineers across experience levels through pairing, code review and feedback they can act on\nCoach others on safe and effective AI use, including prompt quality, output validation and debugging AI-assisted code\nHelp define and enforce team standards for AI use, covering review, documentation, traceability and quality thresholds\nAdd reusable prompts, workflows and patterns to our Skills Library, so that knowledge does not sit with one person\n\nTo fly in your role, you’ll need\nA minimum of seven years working experience as a software engineer\nExtensive commercial experience in C# and .NET\nProduction experience with Angular or React\nAt least one system you designed, shipped and supported in production, that you can talk through in detail at interview\nExperience in client-facing delivery, where the client sets the priorities and you explain the trade-offs\nHands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, and with Linux, containers and infrastructure as code\nExcellent written and spoken communication\nComfortable in an Agile delivery team\nThe discipline to manage your own time and stay in close contact with a team spread across time zones\nDaily working experience with an AI coding tool such as Claude Code, and examples of where it helped you and where it was wrong\nWillingness to work in an agentic delivery model, where parts of the development workflow are automated\nExperience in financial services is a strong advantage, and Commercial Real Estate or Credit Markets experience even more so\nThe confidence to tell a client something they do not want to hear, early\nWe assess candidates against our Senior Developer role expectations.
